Hello!

I'm currently on HyperOS 2.0.100.0 .eu ROM. I been using only .eu ROMs for quite long years started from Mi 9 back in the days.
I experience the issues mentioned in the title: I can't recall since when, but the camera is lagging, unresponsive, and most of the time it literally takes 3-5 seconds just to open the gallery from the camera app.
Even generally I feel like my phone is quite slow. I don't game at all, but I do multitask (I want to..) sometimes quite enough. Other issue is the RAM managment. Eventho my phone is only a 8/256GB variant, but I can't believe how aggressive is the RAM managment, it's nonsense.
If I don't put every app in "No restrictions" under app/battery settings it reloads/kills after loading 1-2 other not-demanding simple app.

Few days ago I installed a Magisk module which disables the thermal throttling basically entirely. I feel like it helped quite a lot but the battery now easily reaching 40°C+.

- I have like 60% free storage
- Memory extension off (on not doing any good)

I tried doing full dalvik/cache wipe multiple times.
Only thing that's in my mind is that I been dirty flashing basically since I bought the phone 2 years ago (using .eu since then).

Am I the only one with this issue?
I appreciate any feedback, tips or help regarding to my issues. I rather not do a full data wipe if not necessary unless someone actually know a reliable full backup method.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah bro I've been having the same problem on my Xiaomi 13 for the past few days . Camera lags a lot , without me changing anything, and when try open gallery from camera app , it's like in using a Nokia which is 10 years old . I hope they fix this . I also am on hyperos 2.0. Please reply to me if you find any solution. Thanks for your time!

Hello, my friend.
Thank you for this. I have been going crazy trying to make sense of this 1000 euro flagship that I got about two years ago. Right from the start, it was laggy, and now it has become a nightmare. You probably know how frustrating it is that you have beautiful family moments and you want to lunch your camera to take some photos quickly, and then you have to wait 3-4 seconds for the camera app to lunch, 3-4 seconds for each photo to be taken due to the awful memory management, and then checking the photo also takes 5-6 seconds. All the while, all other background processes are being terminated, and even my Bluetooth devices are getting disconnected because there is no RAM left to process them.
HyperOS has made it even obviously worse, but it's not like it was a flagship performance even before. It's so sad that such a powerful chip and also not low RAM can't handle 3 simple apps simultaneously, as you said, when I open the third app, the first one is already terminated, and the booting time for the app also takes a few seconds.
Were you able to find an improvement for it?

I didn't find any specific solution but one thing that kinda worked for me was that I turned off the extra ram feature. When I bought my phone it was already on , but when you start to use more that 50% of your storage this feature is absolutely bad . Maybe check if the this option is on , on your settings.

How sad that such a phone has such awful performance. never again, Xiaomi.
The memory extension feature was on, but it didnt bring much to the table, and made the phone even worse. I disabled it a long time ago but it really didnt help at all. I sometimes use performance mode, but it also doesn't have a huge impact.
Thanks for the reply. I wish you a new, headache-free phone

Haha no problem! To be honest I have the Xiaomi 13 and I'm quite happy, except some battery issues, but probably you are right at this moment Xiaomi flagship phone ain't really worth it because you can find at the same price some better Samsung or Google phones . Although I like the style of the company and some of their ideas and supported them since 2019 I think I'll switch to Samsung for my next phone if they don't have some major software updates

Same for me. Overall I like Xiaomi and its UI. I been a user for years (first step is to unlock BL and flash .eu) but the performance issues are unreal for a 2y old flagship phone.
I'll probably switch to the new Samsung flagship when it comes out. I was never a big fan of Touchwiz/OneUI but nowadays its in the 'alright' state. Knox is quite a big punch but should'nt be an issue since I live in the EU thus it won't avoid warranty eventho I never had to claim any warranty with phones.

Set your camera application to be started automatically and remove any battery saving property for it.
If nothing works, the I recommend is is possible do a full ROM flash from scratch.
I encountered this kind of lagging after couples of upgrade iterations.

Yea I mean a full clean flash would probably fix most of the performance issues I believe since I been using and dirty flashing .eu builds for over 2 years but for me it's not worth it. I been researching for hours for a reliable backup tool/app but nowadays nothing seems to be any 'real good'. I used to use Migrate which was a godsent app back in the days.
I simply cba doing a full reinstall at this point. I'll just keep using this phone and keep updating it, it might fix it, might not.

Xiaomi.eu being a custom rom, with a lot of tweaks on it, could became unstable, especially after a major release upgrade.
Any extra intervention, like rooting, can aggravate the condition.

Valid point. Anyways if anyone has an idea/solution for an up-to date backup solution.. I'm all ears. If I could just backup all my installed apps + its data that would be really nice.
