Hi,

I have a new device with the 3.1.25 rom installed to partition one with recovery after wiping the device and cache.

Sometimes, I have a weird graphical issue when there is a second graphical layer over the screen such as fields texts.

I believe that this thing is common and it is a ROM issue.

Hello, I've got the same problem.

Sometimes a smaller copy of the screen is being displayed on the top left corner of the screen for a really short time. It seems to appear randomly although maybe more often when trying to edit text in a field. I have only noticed this bug when I'm using an app (any app) or when on the home screen (using nova launcher); bug doesn't seem to occur when in the settings screens or notification tab.

MIUI 3.1.25 on Xiaomi MI2 (has happened for a few releases already)

Seems to me that the problem happens when "rounded corners" is enabled. I've disabled it and it seems to solve the issue.

Can you please try to disable it and let me know if it works for you?

Seems it still happens when this feature is turned off... Hopefully it will be fixed in later versions.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've tried it but the bug is still there. As far as I can tell it didn't change anything. I've rtied to switch on or off a few other debugging options but nothing seems to make a difference.

I'm trying to get a screenshot of the bug but I dont' manage: everytime it appears I'm too slow. There's definitely a pattern, like the first column of pixels on the top left corner of the screen gets duplicated horizontally, creating long horizontal lines of the same colour as the most left pixel. And this only in a small rectangular area about 1/4 of the total height of the phone and 1/2 of the width (when looked at verticaly). Hope that makes any sense.

Yes, exactly the same thing in my device. I marked it in black frame.

It is annoying and I hope it will be be fixed soon.

I can confirm the bug is still present at version 3.2.1.

It is very annoying, I don't understand how come it is being discussed only now.

how to reproduce..? I dont have that...

Try to place an icon in the launcher at the top left area of the screen and see if it sometimes vanishe after some time on the launcher screen, not always, but sometimes.

Tried few times. I was holding icon at top left corner for more than 10 sec and nothing happened.

You don't have to hold the icon, just place it in the top left are of the mail launcher screen and wait. In my device it vanishes. I have this problem through all interface.

it can be hardware issue.... sorry for that....

This is how I usually see the bug:

1. open any conversation in google talk
2. wait random amount of time (1-5-10 seconds)

Usually, when the bug appears, it stays as long as you don't do anything. If you take a screenshot, scroll the screen or touch anything it will go away. Most of the times it appears while you're writing text or doing something with the app so it's just a blink and disappears almost instantly. I've included two screenshots, one with the bug and one whith the exact same screen after the bug is gone (this way maybe you get to see what's going on).

I really doubt this is a hardware problem as it only appears in a few apps, in most apps (such as games) it simply never occurs. it does seem to appear more often when there's a text field on the screen although I've seen it on my home screen as well (Nova Launcher). I've noticed it mostly on gTalk and gMail.

I hope this helps, please let me know if you need more information. Thanks

P.S.: if you play Ingress for the Resistance don't look at the screenshots ;)

Yes, exactly the same in my device.
Nothing helps to get rid of it. Kernel issue in our devices?
Our devices has a different screen driver?
I tried everything possible.

Sorry for hear that, but it seems to be HW issue... not SW...

Ok, thanks for taking the time to read what I wrote. I know I said in my first post that it happened in any app but I realised since then that it doesn't. It never happens in some of the apps I use the most (Ingress, any kind of game, reddit sync). Therefore I really do not think it's a hardware issue.

Why would a hardware bug cause an issue only with a few select app?

Obviously I'm really out of my league here as I have no knowledge of phone hardware and rom programming but I would really enjoy if you could explain to me what makes you think that this is a hardware problem.

I have same setup as you and cant duplicate your issue... I am really trying but cant see it on my Mi2.. And.. You are almost alone reporting that.. There were sold thousand of Mi2 and no one else reports that... Just apply your waranty...

Olrik,

I was starting to think. Maybe something is wrong with the battery current when the display maintain the same image for a long period of time?
Do you have an access to a different battery to check?

I'll try to check it with someone and let you know, since we both agree that the problem is not in the device itself, I was thinking that maybe the battery we got is bad... Maybe the burn in process went wrong.
I must solve it. It drives me nuts.

I have a good news for you but bad for me... I saw same on my Mi2 but only twice... I set a default theme and seems its gone... Hope so...

BTW, when turning the device up side down and the screen turns 180 degrees to the correct orientation, I get the same bug so that the bug appear on the other side of the screen!
This check makes this issue 100% software bug as the bug is not in the same place of the screen.
I am sure that the devices which has this issue, have a different screen driver which hasn't been addressed yet by Xiaomi.

Is there someone on this forum who can clarify this with Xiaomi? It will be ridiculous to be stuck with this issue for the lifespan of the device.
