Looks like we got the first Xiaomi device with LTE 800 MHz / band 20!

4G: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8

Turns out the Xiaomi Mi5 doesn't support the initially reported LTE bands. The forum post has been amended and now lists the following bands.

No because the main selling point is the Azian martket Thats why they dont release any smartphone with the 4G lower frequentie bands. When they hit the european martket with official stores and everything maybe then they will release smartphones with the knowing 800/900Mhz bands

Why don't they include needed hardware for such bands and leave it to developers for exploring.

It is not there sellingpoints. I told you the azian market is there sellingpoint. And over there they are using the higer frequentie bands.

If Xiaomi hits the European market with releasing in serval country's maybe. Than they will consider making it 4G for the western market.

But if Xiaomi goes European? Than the prices of China will be more because the different taxes in different country.

I don't think it's a HW issue.
I think the chipset supports Band 20 but this frequency band is used otherwise in China. So they disabled it in Modem SW.
