That's not a kernel for ROMs, this is for developers who build ROM, not flashable zip since it won't works with other roms

Thanks for your answer, but can you explain a little bit more please? What are the differences?

This thread is meant for developers who want to build a custom rom and need a kernel or help with developing the kernel even further! You can grab a compiled version of this kernel inside M1chas cm10.1 / cm11 roms

That's what I was trying to tell the other guy...

The thing is I don't get why it isn't compatible with other ROMs that aren't m1cha ones... I came from an optimus 2x (great community) and there was 2-3 custom kernels and I could switch between them in any ROM without any problem..

That's not only a kernel, it's a device tree + kernel + propietaries files

Sorry linuxx but your short answer got me confused. You mean the optimus flashable zips? Or this one?

I got UART working. Maybe I'll try to port mainstream kernel(3.13) or opensource bootloader in future.
What should be the benefits of this features? Specially the mainstream kernel and the opensource bootloader

Thanks!

newer kernel is always better :) And with a newer kernel we can use the latest drivers so we can port Android 10 :D
And a opensource bootloader would open all possibilities. Native Multiboot, Boot from usb and much more.

You could use mi2 as a developer board for electronic/software projects :D

I like how this sounds, but I think also that since we have a device so close to an Nexus 4 we should be porting and studing other kernels to learn with their progress... The franco kernel besides it's stuck in performance governor it's really good to implement some features to improve our kernel.

optimizing the battery consumption should be one of the next goals.
loosing 2% per hour in airplane mode is not state of the art.

my old HTC HD2 is running android KK with exactly the same apps and configuration and is loosing 0,5% per hour. and this old phone has a smaller and 4,5year old battery :D

I will flash it now, i will try to give feedback tomorrow.
I guess i have to revert to default kernel by reflashing cm afterwards?
