[APP] Mi2raw – enables capturing real raw!

I believe most raw processing apps should preserve the EXIF data when you convert them to jpg or tiff. If they do not, they really should be. Its more seamless to have the geotagging info embedded in the file imo. I've used a few different tools that can read raw, such as Adobe Bridge, Adobe Photoshop, Photomatix.
So be it :) I'll try to implement it till the next release

3- Continuous focus would be a good add-on. what I'm thinking about it this:
  1. You open the app.
  2. The phone will try to auto focus.
  3. If it worked or not, by touching the screen, you'll overwrite the auto continuous focus and change it to manual.
  4. after taking the photo, auto focus will be working again just like points 2 and 3.

6- Sorry, it don't happen all the time, so I can't get it on video.

Thank you for making it clear. I'll start working on it

-----------------

In general I'm working to improve even more the color matrices which Xiaomi provides.

Hello, It would be great if you can add a real time clipping indicator (for both highlight and shadows) even if it's just a little red/blue dot that pop up.
Histogram is not really relevant in raw format but if it has separate red/blue/green information it can be usefull to see what elemental color is causing the clipping in highlight.
Also, the ability to change saving path is a basic option that should be on any camera app IMO.

Thanks for your hard work anyway!

The next version will have a kind of Zebra Pattern, which is way better than clipping indicator :)
But keep in mind that it will be shown AFTER a shot and not in real time because you are interested in what is clipped in the raw, not in the preview.

I imagine there's no way to see what will be clipped in the raw in preview?

Exactly. It would be possible only if I had the ability to read 30fps of raw images.
Excluding RED cameras, I didn't see others that give this ability in real-time.

Hello again,
Do you think you could add a framing guideline to the preview? Just like in most digital cameras and some app.
I use it a lot when I take a photos.

Btw, there's a framing guideline in the stock app from CM/mokee and *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum* but they do not provide a proper preview of the full 3:2 image, it's cropped, so their guideline is useless...

Already has been implemented in the new version which is currently being tested by beta testers and will be released maybe even today :)

Hi all,

The new version is out! New exciting features were added. Please read the change log in the first message in this thread.
Don't forget to report to me if a bug is revealed.

Here are several overlay guides to start with:
http://s30.postimg.org/4v6sgux75/rule_Of_Thirds.png - Rule of thirds, by me.
http://s15.postimg.org/sujoazknv/hobysun_guid.png - 28mm-35mm, by HobySun.
Please share your guides!

@jauling - geo tagging will be next time
@andy.afef - additional focus modes are coming soon

Cheers!

Looks great,

Loved:

1- App lunch real quick
2- Image taking is indeed faster
3- Semi-transparent bar

Comments:

1- Shutter animation and sound is released about 1 sec before taking the image.
2- Animation lags. (Disable HW overlays and Force GPU rendering didn't help.) Maybe you can use CPS and GPU for animation?

Recommendation:

1- After the focus is done, how about writing the ISO value and EX value in the semi transparent bar?
Like: ISO: 400 EX: +1.2

Hi,

regarding comments:
1- could you explain? do you mean the photo itself is delayed?
2- For the last few days I've tried to avoid the lag in several different approaches, but got only a minor improvement (without reducing overall performance). There is no lag on the "iris open" animation, only sometimes on closing. Keep in mind that on taking a photo, the phone reaches it's limits (because the calculations are done in sw and not in dsp), so such a lag is acceptable.

regarding recommendation:
1- Impossible because the AE isn't locked so iso and shutter speed can change any moment after. I can't read this data continuously. In addition it might cause UI lags.

Regards

1- The animation start before taking the photo it self, it's like the code do this:
A: Play animation and sound
Then
B: Take the photo.

Maybe you can try this and it may solve the lag:
A: Take the photo
Then
B Play animation and sound
Then
C: start saving the photo

Regarding recommendation:

No problem

1- I'll check it and if so, I can try to sync it.
As I mentioned in previous message, there are tons of calculations involved in this flow. It is not just capture and save. It uses 100% cpu, io and ram (and most of gpu). Stalling it (for anything else like smooth animation) will raise the shot->file total time dramatically.

Since i m a big fan of this excellent app i would like to request one thing. Can you please change the default icon of this app? i mean something a bit more unique? Default app icon has a grey border outside, its kind of looks dull. Since MIUI icons are not completely flat, somehow rounded at the corners, atleast u can remove the outside grey border. I guess that will make the icon better looking. I want to suggest, please use V5 extended theme by Zipalign and then see the Mi2Raw icon from there. Excellently made. So, can we expect a brand new icon in the upcoming release please??:)

A new app icon might be a good refreshment along with a new version and I'm opened to suggestions.
Could you please share a 512x512 png icon? I don't have too much time to work on the app, so most of it is dedicated to functionality; I would really appreciate if you (/the community) could provide the design of the icon.
