Hey all!

This is my first post on Xiaomi.eu and I'm proud to say I'm now an owner of the Mi5S Plus (6GB, 128GB) from a OnePlus One that lasted me three years.

So far my impressions on it are amazing, the phone feels so luxurious and premium, way more than the price I paid for it. My hands are sweaty from trying to handle it because it's too precious to damage in the slightest :D

I initially paid £435 but then DHL hit me with their amazing import taxes..

I used nis-store.com which I was VERY skeptical about but upon receiving the phone, I'm really pleased nonetheless to say.

Google Play Store is installed and the phone functions fine, there are no UK locales yet so I set it to Argentina? Which seems to work.

I'm going to attempt to flash a Xiaomi.eu rom that has been done by a user (ingbrzy), which is amazing to see since support for this phone is quite rare at the moment in EU countries etc.

If you require the files needed to root the phone, follow ingbrzy's profile and go to his MULTI 6.10.20 thread. It has TWRP, SuperSu links, everything! Do those things at your own risk, you've been warned and I'm not responsible for anything.

I'm going to update what will happen once I unlock bootloader, root and install xposed. I literally am going to root this phone down and remove all bloatware. At the moment, I need to wait for the bootloader unlock code.

Update October 28th 2016 8:09AM: Received a text saying I can unlock bootloader! That was literally in a few hours after I went to bed, really pleased but will have to flash the EU rom later.

Update October 28th 2016 7:20PM: Bootloader unlocked, TWRP installed
Update October 29th 2016 7:20PM: Xposed (MIUI Edition) installed & Modules

Here are some pictures for now :p

IF you guys have a Mi5S Plus, use the MIUI Edition of Xposed, not the standard one.

I got a MI5S Plus with the same specs, and having trouble unlocking the bootloader.
Is there anything specific you had to do in order to unlock it? What version of the rom did you do it? (Global, Dev)? No matter what I try, my unlock tool keeps getting stuck at 50% with an account error...
Thanks in advance

Have you gone into Developer and allowed USB Debugging in case?

Tapping Build Number 10 times should unlock the Settings > Additional Settings > Developer Options

Have you been approved to unlock and logged into the SAME account that has the permissions to unlock your phone with?

Have you got any conflicting drivers installed and are there any other error messages apart from it being stuck at 50%?

I flash the Xiaomi.EU weekly roms in this forum

I've done all that.
Only error I get is the account error.
I am authorised to unlock otherwise it wouldn't go past the login screen on the unlock tool. There are no conflicting drivers.
What rom were you on prior to bootloader unlock?

I was on an official Xiaomi Global ROM.

I think 6.11.03 or something.

What's the account error, I don't understand that part.

i think there are two versions of the unlock tool, are you using the English one?

Error I'm getting is "Current account is different than the account info on device" or something like that.
No idea why this is happening. Will try a full reset tonight.

Yeah sounds like a reasonable thing to do, are you logged into the MIUI account with permissions on YOUR Mi5SPlus?

I have usb debugging checked. There is no oem unlocking option.

There should be an Enable OEM unlocking toggle somewhere.

What drivers do you have on your computer for the Mi5S Plus ADB wise

There isn't an oem unlock options under the developer menu.
As for the drivers I'm using the ones that came with the mi flash tool after disabling Windows driver signature.

Try using Google's ADB drivers.

https://dl-ssl.google.com//android/repository/latest_usb_driver_windows.zip

Unzip folder to your desktop, connect your Mi5s Plus, go to Device Manager, See the detected phone and right-click, update driver then browse for the folder.

Let it install the google ADB driver and try to then unlock. Restart the PC beforehand to make sure.

If not then factory reset I guess.
Thanks will try that later.

So, quick update.

Managed to unlock bootloader last night by updating to the new Global Dev for the Mi5S Plus.

However a new problem has arisen, as usual. Using ADB, it recognises the phone whilst in normal mode with USB debugging on. The moment I reboot it into fastboot mode (to flash TWRP), it doesn't recognise it anymore. The drivers are installed as I disabled windows driver signature verification, but the phone is just not recognised anymore.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Before you go into fastboot, reinstall Google ADB Drivers, go BACK into FASTBOOT then Right-click the Mi5Plus in Device Manager, UPDATE Driver as the Google ADB Driver and it should detect it.

Have done that already both with Google's ADB drivers and the drivers that came with Mi Flash.

UPDATE: I've dropped this phone way too many times already but nothing's happened...

Yet.

The vibrator module seems to go weak and stronger at some points but now it's fine.
