I am using Mi 5s and camera focus seems having some issue, have a look attached photo, left top corner you could see it's blurry while center is completely normal, I need to tap focus couple times to make blurry go away, any idea why?

Focus don't have any issues bokeh effect when you focus and make photos of close objects....

We call that "macro" that means camera app always try to focus closest objects. You must try to hold your phone paralel with your object (i.e keyboard like your photo). Have a nice day!

Hello, another camera problem here: autofocus for distant objects does not work immediately.
It takes about 1 minute starting from when I open camera app, then it works normally. Then I force close camera app, open it again, and notice the same problem: it takes the same time to work again.
Same thing with external camera app, with official, dev, China and global roms.

I also tried manual focus with both external and official camera app.

whoever having this autofocus issue, after checking out the Chinese MIUI forum, it might cause by misfit of the focus coil and stuck, you could try to tap it a bit harder on camera side, that fix for me.

I clicked confirm on the link as well, I kind of doubt that's a hardware issue, camera module is pretty mature and it shouldn't be a quality issue at all.

I have the same problem, very frustating. If someone have a solution I'm interested.

found something new, instead of tapping it, I wipe my thumb on camera when blurry happen, seems resolved it immediately, anyone mind to try it?

Some people say that it's fixed in MIUI EU 6.12.22, I have the stable one. They wipe dalvik cache and cache twice, berfore and after flashing the rom.

With 6.12.22 the results in many low light situations are better and the problem oft the 1st post here seems to be history.

If i start the camera and the picture is blurry, i turn the phone upside down (display looking to the floor) for a second. If you watch the camera while upside down you will see the lens moving a few micrometers. After turning back i have a sharp picture.

it's same result as tapping the camera module, the aim is to move camera lens manually, haha

Hello, same problem here with Xiaomi MI5S.
The camera takes a loooong time to get focused. This is not a macro effect or other effects, this is a faulty component of the hardware, optical failure or similar. Other people are also complaining in MIUI forums (delete spaces): en . miui.com /forum.php? mod = viewthread & tid = 430283 & extra = page%3D6&mobile=2

Tapping the mobile and hitting it to make it focus is really a ****** solution for a mobile phone that cost 330€. Xiaomi should repair this hardware bug instead of being silent about this problem.
After a factory reset, the problem was still there. Tested with MIUI Global 8.0.10.0 Stable.

It's not a macro function at all, whatever you want to call, I call it an optical/hardware fault.

My friend's got the same problem. Any news about that? Is it a hardware issue or could be solved? He's got the last xiaomi.eu ROM on it.

I think its hardware issue, my mi5s doesn't have this problem. when i open the camera, it focuses quickly and very clearly, i dont see any blur on the screen. I have used eu, global, and chinese rom, none of them show camera problem, so i dont think its software issue.

Same issue here, but with not so huge blurry like the photo from Ikthomas. The effect is distance independent - on a landscape photo with a meadow I had blur on the bottom left corner (~20-33% of the image are not sharp). I guess its a lens tilt shift problem. It's a bit misaligned in a ~45° degree to the horizon (when hold in landscape with buttons up). Compared with my Oneplus One there is only a tiny blur at top right (on landscape too)... A larger sensor requires a more accurate optic too.

I can life with that issue, but I'm a bit disappointed. Now I had better, low-noise pictures but in some cases (landscape photos, paper 'copies') my 3 year old Opo beats it.

Same problem here. I've read on other forums that it's an hardware problem with Liteon camera mounted on Mi5s.
