Call dropping or caller does not hear me anymore

I always update my phone to latest rom version so i have the same issues with 10.3.1.0 EU stable ROM and have no way to solve this problem. I had to go back to xiaomi.eu rom ver 10.0.7.0 and everything is OK. I will go back to latest version if all isues were fixed.

here you'go:
https://1drv.ms/f/s!AiIZqPOtqD4Xp5t_xbMjGOZvximcAA

you will find the extracted modem.img ( ~162MB) file (just renamed it to make it clear from what miui update package it is..)
you should be able to flash it via twrp (just switch to image flashing in twrp to display it..)

btw the latest china stable (miui_MIMIX2S_V10.3.1.0.PDGCNXM_fd117de242_9.0)
AT4.0.c2.6-301-0319_2103_d9528a4

pps.: i'm curently download xiaomi "offical" 9.4.18 developer rom and xiaomi.eu dev rom... and will check the modem.img files.. and also will upload it to the cloud share...

Hi Steve1712, I've tried the modem.img but it doesn't works for me....I've used it with the weekly 9.4.18...

Which ROM are youe using? No echo problem wiht it?

Thanks in advance.

I had call quality problems all the time and it seems, those instructions are helping me:

/system/build.prop replace those two line :

ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype=none
persist.audio.fluence.voicecall=true

With this:

ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype=fluence
persist.audio.fluence.mode=endfire
persist.audio.handset.mic=digital
persist.audio.voicecall.mic=0
persist.audio.voice.clarity=none
persist.audio.aanc.enable=false
persist.audio.handset_rx_type=DEFAULT
persist.audio.nsenabled=ON
persist.speaker.prot.enable=false
persist.audio.spkcall_2mic=OFF

I have to test it more, but call quality is much better now, there are no echoes and no lost words or speech stuttering anymore.
Maybe xiaomi.eu developers can explain, what all the lines are doing, maybe they can use something from there to put it in the ROM, so we don't need to replace build.prop file every week with new weekly ROM.

Hi it works for me! I hace to put volume two points down but it's enought for making a call. BTW I'm on Stable 10.0.7.0.PDGCNFH

Well, Im quite a flashaolic, so I'm always trying different roms, and I think these problems don't occur in AOSP roms... Can anyone confirm this? It does look to me, but I cannot assure this 100% ...

Hi Phurya, I'ma MIUI fan doesn't like ASOP too much but if AOSP don't have the problem I'll think twice...I need to make a full backup of my working phone and I don't have a OTG right now...Could you try an AOSP ROM and post the results? Do you have echo on all your calls?

Thanks in advance.

Since I was happy with the 4G/LTE connectivity "performance" of the Chinese Beta ROM 9.4.18 I decided to use the Xiaomi.eu ROM 9.4.18 which I assumed is based on the respective Chinese Beta ROM. Both have the same baseband version, AT4.0.c2.6-303-0416_1014_8fadd5d. However, obviously there is a difference because almost immedately after starting to use Xiaomi.eu ROM 9.4.18 I experienced the same 4G/LTE connectivity issues!

Default preferred network is "GSM/WCDMA/LTE" / "LTE/UMTS auto (PRL)" for the Xiaomi.eu ROM 9.4.18 (finally, no TD-SCDMA!). Phone calls and data connection did not work when connected with a 3G (H, H+) network after losing 4G/LTE network connection ("fall back"?). When "dropping" from 4G/LTE VoLTE to a 3G connection voices become garbled and the connection is terminated at some point. So, no real "SRVCC" (Single Radio Voice Call Continuity) here, also with the Chinese (?) modem.img/baseband version that's being used in the Xiaomi.eu ROM 9.4.18.

I've now changed the preferred network to "LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto (PRL)", since there are neighboring WCDMA cells in addition to the available LTE and GSM cells. However, according to wikipedia UMTS is rather WCDMA-ish, so I am not sure whether this will improve my Mi MIX 2S' connectivity "performance".

Voice quality is very good though, which probably can be related to the VoLTE/HD-Voice standard, when I am connected with 4G/LTE networks.

So be careful... Echo is one thing... But the bigger issue are really the call drops, loosing signal when switching cell towers....

Exactly, those are the big and annoying issues. I can confirm AOSP rom I'm using now does not have any of the issues mentioned above, as far as I can see for now, everything works without issues, but I'm still testing. Using latest LOS 16 build, with pico Gapps, and latest Magisk.

I'm also on 9.4.18 now (xiaomi.eu weekly) and testing,
I hope xiaomi will fix problem ASAP or more people will need to replace phone as it's main functionalities are broken :(

I was on that on that build too, and the issues are present, my phone gets unusable because although I have network available, people call me,I'm unreachable... When making or receiving a call, signal drops and disconnects short after. With AOSP rom I have zero issues, phone works perfect. Shame on Xiaomi, shame on MIUI.

I hope sooner or later some developer will be able to inspect and increase SAR ratings if this is the source of problems. I don't care if any value is too high or not, but I need phone that is accessible and data and voice are working.
9.4.18 so far looks much better than global stable (that one acted like it has damaged antenna). I'm still testing and I agree - that is shame for xiaomi that they allowed to kill main feature of their flagship device.
Phurya: what is Your country? What baseband version You have in aosp?

I'm on Portugal right now, I live here, but travel a lot because I'm a industrial solderer, 2 weeks ago I was on Turkey, and same problem, same issues.

Hi! Finally I've a ROM that works like a charm, Miroom, currently using the stable 10.2, everything working, no call drops, no echo! I'm gonna use it until new release. BTW, no Spanish translation but has English language.

portal.mi-room.ru

10.2 was terrible for me, no echo and no call drops, but often people said they have troubles to hear me, often I had messages that someone tried to call me and I was not accessible, later I found out that indeed I can't call myself from other phone. Data connections were poor. Maybe this can work in other countries, but here in Poland it was unusable :(
Now I'm on latest weekly.eu ROM, it's much better - people can hear me and I'm rather online, but I still have some issues regarding quality - one call was dropped, once I could hear every second sentence. Still it's just faulty but seems to be better than that from stable. I still hope they will fix that!

Phurya: I expect that it may work better in different countries, some carriers support different technologies. I never had issues you described like echo, but I had other problems. BTW: is VoLTE working on your side?

I had no echo problems, but a lot of call dropping, and frequently not being reachable... latest weekly is just the same for me, so I'm using LOS 16, works flawlessly.
It's unacceptable Xiaomi has oficiall builds that makes their phones nearly unusable.

hey there... i've tested some time now.. and can't confirm that the china stable modem firmware is working, at least in global stable rom... still call drops when switching cell phone towers... :(

so baseband: AT4.0.c2.6-301-0319_2103_d9528a4 is no good...

i'm testing baseband from chine dev rom now... (AT4.0.c2.6-303-0416_1014_8fadd5d )
i've uploaded the modem firmware also to the onedrive share if someone else looking for it without downloading and extracting the whole rom..

the next would be to test the modem firmware before the SAR Limit change.. can someone point me to the a rom before the change??

Good luck, let us know how it turns out for you. I've had good results with this baseband at first with the Chinese BETA ROM 9.4.18. The xiaomi.eu ROM 9.4.18 has the same baseband version, yet I now have the same or at least similar problems as before ... I am not quite sure by now what else might negatively impact my Mi MIX 2S' connectivity capabilities and performance.

I am using xiaomi.eu ROM 9.4.26 on my Mi MIX 2S (8/256 GB XA model, bootloader unlocked). I"ve uploaded zipped modem logs and screenshots of two separate 'loss of 4G/LTE functionality' situations that I have experienced today. Both phone/VoLTE and data service were affected and not available.

Download link (Microsoft OneDrive).

Yes, it's really so frustrating. I hate it. I'm so angry that I didn't buy a Huawei. I would never recommend anymore Xiaomi. Never ever.
It's so strange that there is no official statement or a solution to the problem.

i've moved to a p30 pro...
and i also do not recommend or buy an xiaomi device anymore...

its just the lack of interessted in a company thats creates new devices every month... (of course there is no other real company that won't handle this the same... check Samsung or Huawei.. the all have the same issues... the best would be Apple.. with atleast some support to "older" Phones too...)

There won't be any offical statement at all, as the phone is old... Mix3 is here... and i guess in a few Weeks there will be an Mix3S or Mix4.... i even didn't noticed the SAR Change/Limit that happend, whats most propably causing the issues... or at least the have built some bug into the system when limiting the output...
