[FONTS] Theme Manager Fonts [UPDATE 4/2]

A couple of fonts that look pretty good on my phone are Century Gothic and Book Antiqua. I'm not sure if they are free or not, but most people with Windows or Microsoft Office have them.

This thread's awesome man!

One small thing though. I'm using the jolly font, and loving it, but it doesn't seem to register certain symbols like the uk pound sign.

Is there anything that can be done about that? It's kinda annoying.

Thanks in advance!

Book Antiqua I can post, but Century Gothic is a paid font, about $30. Judging by all the copies of Helvetica Neue being posted, I doubt most people care, but I would rather not risk getting this site in trouble. Also, I can only post the regular version of Book Antiqua, because the other types (bold, italic, etc.) are paid fonts.

I'm afraid there's not really anything you can do about that. You could probably take the symbols from a font that has them and use something like Font Forge to add them in, but they won't look like Jolly. From what I understand, each character of a font has to be drawn individually by its creator. There isn't a template you could use to automatically create characters based on a font. That would, apparently, make things too easy. As it stands, each font is limited to whatever characters its designer decides to make. I wish I could have given you a more positive answer. Sorry.

can you make one for me, with the la cartoonerie font please. That is always the one i add to my phone after flashing a ROM...Thanks!

planedoc, I will get that up in the morning. I was planning on having it up tonight, but I got sidetracked, and I have to go to work now. Sorry about that.

Hmm, I understand

Perhaps, can you pm/email me the file, rather than posting it here? I'd appreciate that a lot

That font is a slightly modified version of Helvetica Neue actually. Cheers! :)

The Font Book app on the Mac provides a lot of data on fonts: version number, manufacturer, etc. All of that info looks the same on the font you linked to as on Helvetice Neue on my Mac. And when the poster in the linked post says, "I have it on my laptop... Having to get a dfont splitter to get at the ttf," he is probably talking about the HelveticeNeue.dfont file on his Mac. I don't know of any other OS that uses .dfont files. Android doesn't use them.

I have tried quite a few Helvetica fonts in MIUI. Personally I like Helvetica Neue LT Std 55 Roman the best.

Oops, I mean it's different from the one in the Galaxy S2.

I love the Helvetica Neue font a lot, using it on every custom rom. Only problem I have is with the MIUI rom. Ahh!

You are welcome. I decided to look into this special Samusung Helvetica font rumor just to see if it was true or an urban myth. Here's what I discovered.

- You can buy Helvetica Neue in the Android Market for 99 cents. It's official and licensed by Monotype Co.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.monotype.android.font.helveticaneue

- This font will not work in MIUI. It looks like only a few Samsung phones support this type of flipfont.apk right now. From what I have read, there are modifications to the Settings.apk in Samsung phones that make the flipfont fonts sold in the Market work.

- I was able to take a look at an .apk file for a flipfont font. It looks like anybody could buy Helvetica Neue from the Android Market, take it apart, and repackage the enclosed truetype file(s) into an .mtz file. I'm not curious enough to spend 99 cents and find out exactly which Helvetica they are selling! :)

If you want more info, here's a link. Note that flipfont works on many Nokia/Symbian phones. Those phones have a separate flipfont app and the fonts are packaged differently than on Android. Most of the information on Monotype's web site is geared towards Nokia/Symbian.

Regarding fonts that aren't packaged for miui, I can confirm that you can take any true type font, change it to arial, arial bold, and clockipia, and copy them into an existing mtz file that our man endless dissent has put together. Now, endless has provided us with a ton of fonts that have cost him his own time. He also takes personal requests. I started doing this so I could test a font to see what it looked like on my phone without troubling him.

I also have a certain very popular paid font that starts with an N that I slapped into an mtz I wasn't using, selected it in theme manager, and, well... hehe... yeah. I have a nice font going right now. :)

I just skimmed through the last few posts and saw something about a font that is an apk that wouldn't work on miui, yada, yada, yada, and thought I'd share this info in case nobody had tried it yet.

Hi. Is there any chance I could get caviar dreams for miui?

Thanks in advance.

Will do. I actually have a bunch of fonts from that font designer. I found her site when I was looking for info about Champagne & Limousines. She made lots of great fonts, so I'll just upload all of the fonts I have from her at once.

Plus a special font for the holiday next Wednesday (if you don't know which holiday is next Wednesday, the special font will be of no interest to you).

In case anyone was wondering, the font designer I mentioned in my last post is called Nymphont. If you like her fonts, you can find more info about her on her website, www.nymfont.com.
