AX 3600 mesh not detected

Hello @ShotokanZH, I've tried your script for setting up a Mesh Network of 2 AX3600 routers and it worked great so thank you very much for the easy workaround! :D

However, I've tried adding (several times) a third router as another Mesh Node (AX3600) for the master router (AX3600) and even though everything went great (logged in successfully, it detected the 5Ghz mac address of the router and it even prompted me that everything went good and that it's waiting for router to be rebooted.... The last part of rebooting has never happened and it stays like that endlessly :(

P.S. I've tried also manual reboot, but it didn't work :(

Do you have any fix / ideas of how I could set up a third Mesh node?

Thank you very much in advance!

I've managed to make it work :)

The issue was the fact that the third router didn't have the same firmware version as the other 2. Problem solved! :)

Hello
Hi evryone!
Thank you @oualibadr for your insights, they were extremely helpful.
I made this tool to configure a mesh node without the need to switch to singapore servers:
I am currently using italian servers and everything's running just fine! :)
Hello,

Hello,

Thanks for the script! It finally works, my problem was I had devices on the ¨allowed list¨ in the mainrouter with all static IP´s all the other devices couldn´t connect, I like my network closed. If friends are here I just open the guest network. Anyway this kept me from setting up the MESH. Gonna find out if I can use the restrictions again in the MESH. Also the app says MESH over cable currently not supported but the app tells me that the connectiontype is cable ? I it using full LAN connectivity ? Is the app wrong ?

PS: Should the main AX3600 and Node be connected LAN --> WAN or LAN --> LAN ?
Anybody has a 3 x AX3600 setup working? 2 of them work perfect now, the third one doesn't add to the network.
Thank you!

Script was perfect

I've just noticed that since adding a mesh using the routine my option to make a backup (using browser in settings/status) has been removed. Anyone else noticed this, and worked out how to backup?
Hi,

When I used only 1 AX3600 the backup function worked (to make the backup) trying to us the backup always told me incompatible file.

Anyone else successfully used a backup before ? If yes what file do you use ? The Tar ? or extract and us another file ?

And also it fix a problem I had to connect from MI WIFI application after switching to Israel as AX3600 region
@ShotokanZH

Hi, i've been trying to link together one AX3600 Global version (italy) and one AX1800 china version, but without any luck.
Obviously it cannot be done through the Mi WiFi app, so i've tried with @ShotokanZH tool but without any luck.

the problem is that, after logging in into the main router (the AX3600 one), I provide the tool with the correct MAC Address of the AX1800 one, then it says that all went good and that the second one should be rebooting, but that never happen.
If i try to connect to the AX1800 i'm asked to setup it first.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!

For me script worked but whenever i try to log in to secondary device from mesh in browser, I am asked for region and user agreements etc. then when I cling next I get 'no auth' error message. In other words, I'm not able to edit/view any settings of secondary device from mesh.

I'm trying to do exact same hardware setup as @mogawine (AX3600 as primary - running 3.0.22 global) and AX1800 as secondary (can't remember exactly which version number it has - It's the latest one, updated via UI, also global), via the AX3600 I'm receiving a "extending mesh configuration" and it never completes, using the script (very nice implementation btw) it went all OK but the AX1800 never reboots or receive the settings (the open/default xiaomi wifi network keep being displayed and the initial setup screen is shown when connected in this network).

@ShotokanZH, help ? :D

Replying to myself and others: Reset the AX3600 to the factory settings, tried the script and... TA-DA, mesh network set... (The odd thing its looks like you can't have spaces at the SSID - The router renamed my network and removed the spaces after enable the mesh).

Other odd thing its in router dashboard if I click in "see full network" its sending my to xiaomi home page:

Unplug modem from power (unless you are sure to loose your settings)

Connect first AX3600 (completely factory reset)

If lights are ready to go plug modem back in. (Light should be orange & blue)

Look for Xiami etc name 5G !!! ONLY It should pop up between your wifi networks.

Wait for pop up in browser from MiWifi

Setup as PPPoE (I use my provider modem just as bridge)

Broadband account: *****

Broadband Password: *****

Set WIFI as 12345678 you can change this later ! The 5G network should be12345678_5G. (This because the router doesn’t allow spaces in the password, or now) Don’t ask me why.

Just use the same password as Wifi for the router password for now.

Turn wifi off on computer for 30 seconds.

Select new network 12345678_5G (!) Always use the 5G network (!) Password 12345678

Make sure 2nd router is (factory reset) and near Master Node, so your first AX3600. (If possible with cable) It helped me out once.

Use the script provided by ShotokanZH! Thanks again!

For Mac I used Spotlight and Terminal (windows check his notes)

Terminal:

python3 -m pip install -r requirements.txt

python3 addmesh.py

Put in 192.168.31.1 (IP from Master AX3600)

Password:12345678

The script will show you the right MAC address, make sure you copy the 5G one and paste it where asked. Press enter, wait for restart!

Don’t use the MAC address on the sticker off the router.

Now it should work and now you can change your passwords etc.

Anybody got a 3rd AX3600 working ?

Hi, how's the speed on the satellites?
I've been able to setup it correctly(ish, randomly one of the 3 satellites doesn't connect to the AX3600 but to another AX1800) but the speed.... my god, i drop from 700mbps to 300mbps when i'm lucky, more often to 100mbps.. idk, i expected a lot more from this nearly 300€ setup that i made...

I have around 300mb when I am not in the same room as the router. When in the same room around 550 mb. My connection is 600mb. I used to have 1000mb and the numbers in the same room went up to 930 and 700 - 800 in another room. I downgraded because I don't really needed the 1000mb which obviously was more expensive. My daughter actually has here room far from the closest router, I want to add a 3rd one on the MESH but I'm a little scared to put this 6 antenna beast in her bedroom. I don't know if these wifi waves are bad or not. The MESH won't let me add a 3rd one.

Thanks a lot @ShotokanZH for your script that work very well. Just specify to do config after factory reset

Anyway Xiaomi can give you a big thanks and more $$$$ for fix her bugggggssss

Congrat for your fix !!!!

Hi,
does the python script works to add 2 router AX1800 on CN server to 1 AX3600 initialy on EU but now on singapour after reset...
I would like to create a mesh wih the AX3600 in main and the 2 AX1800 in secondary.
thanks for your help
regards

Back here again u fortunately… I live in a rather large space and the complete setup contains of 4 AX3600. The whole house has a lot of Google Nest Speakers and a bunch of Apple Homepods but they all struggle with the connection. I think that they lose connection while they switch to another router and obviously I am really disappointed with 4 routers… anyone the same issue or a solution?

Funziona alla grande lo script. Ricordatevi di collegarvi al router principale tramite wifi. Funziona anche con firmware cinese e global. Testato su ax3600 Cina e ax1800 global

Hello everyone !
Just to let you know, the script works also with the new AX3000 (black one) !
So I have an AX3600 as the master and the AX3000 as a mesh and it works
Here are the the points that troubled me :
- make sure you use the MAC adress gathered by Wifi analyzer, the one on the landing page doesn't work
- make sure that the second router is in factory reset state.

Hope this help !
And obviously, thanks for the code ! it's pretty damn good !

Thank you for the script. I manage to connect a Redmi AX5 as client to an AX3600 as master. I've modified the scrip, the expected SSID starts with "Redmi_..." but the reported mac was wrong; I got it connecting my linux laptop to the 5GHz hotspot of the AX5 and using the iwconfig command.
My AX3600 is set to France. In order to connect, I've done a master reset on the client, but was unnecessary on the master.

Hi @ShotokanZH
thank you very much for the script and help to set it up. It works perfectly. I have a main router AX3600 and was also able to add 3 more new type AX3000 as mesh. It all works ok. I do have a question, on one of the AX3000 in the farther side of the building, the speed is ridiculously slow (approx 10 mb) as compared to the others, it may be farther than expected. I tried using plugging in a LAN cable to the WAN port to see if it helps, but to be honest, there was no difference, any ideas would help to also get the speed up on the side of the building with the low speed?

Hello and good evening.

I am back after 4 months of usage . my experience is that if i have ax3600 (chinese firmware) with ax1800 (chinese firmware) i can connect each other backhaul meshify. (with ethernet cord).

if my ax3600 (international firmware) with ax1800 (chinese firmware) cannot connected each other with meshify only one as router and the other as ap with ethernet backhaul.

the only way to connect with mesh only with wifi with shotokan script.

and the location for ax3600 is greece? i need to change it to germany and testing again?

any idea how can i use ethernet backhaul? or maybe is something with the script? @Kevin23

Hi @Avenger
it was a little straight forward for me. If you are using windows, then maybe i can tell you what i did.

first i downloaded Python for windows and installed it (download from here https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/)
Download the script and put it in a folder you can easily use command prompt to get to. For example you can save unzip it and save to your c: (also maybe rename the folder to mesh as an example)
Now use the button behind your AX3600 to factory reset your devices.
use a cable to your computer/laptop to setup the main device and make sure you do not use the option to create only one SSID, you must create 2 SSID, one for 2GHz and the other for 5Ghz, (assuming you will use the 123456 as the name, and also 123456 as the password, you should have 2 SSIDs, 123456(2GHz) and 123456_5GHz)
Assuming you are using android as your mobile device, then download and install wifi analyzer, this will help you find the 5GHz mac address for your device you want to connect as mesh, reset the mesh device or node and plug it in close to your main device
Once python installed and script folder is unzipped, i opened command prompt (type CMD in your windows search button)
if cmd opens, then use the command "cd.." to get to c:
once in c: then type 'cd mesh', this will open the folder you have saved the script
now type pip install -r requirements.txt
once completed now type addmesh.py
From here it should be a bit straight forward, it will ask the main router IP address, and then the password to your wifi.

after this, what i see is that for many people it could search and find the mesh node. For me it did not, so i just typed in the MAC address of my nodes from wifi analyzer for the 5GHz MAC address of the node.

I hope this helps, tell me where you are stuck and if i can help more i will try

Has anyone tried connecting the newer AX3200 (Global) to a AX1800 (Chinese) in a mesh? Will this script also work there?
