Mi5 received their N rom yesterday (21/1). And mi4c might have Nougatt just after CNY.

8.1.2 is the best so far. No overheat, good battery life on heavy usage, no sudden drop while connected to wifi. Will stick to it until official Nougatt is released.

Try your luck unlocking bootloader with MiUnlock, and get stuck in 50% like all others did. Or try the unofficial way by flashing a lower version of rom, do oem unlock via adb command and flash twrp afterwards. Never try to flash directly an official rom using the updater from your current...

Use adb in pc. It is not like mtk chips which we can directly root and apply twrp. If there is no laptop around, you may rent one a few minutes in cybercafe. Use adb command to flash twrp, and transfer your desired rom to the internal storage.
