[1.7.22] [Desire Z/G2] keyboard broken for numeric input boxes

On HTC Desire Z, when adding a contact and filling out a phone number field, letters on the hardware keyboard are translated into seemingly random numbers. Pressing FN twice to enable FN-lock in order to type numbers doesn't work either.

Smudgescreen keyboard works fine.
