I am still on 20.11.18 with android 10 on my Mi 9 lite/ MiCC9. What is the correct way to update to android 11? Is a clean install necessary? What about the twrp uninstallation? In the moment is my way to update: First download rom from this website and start twrp and install it there.

Same Problem.

Had to take an adb backup of my phone

then tried to factory reset.

factory reset didn't work.

Then i booted into recovery and tried to format /data and that also did not work.

so i ended up manually wiping /data via terminal

Then rebooted recovery to install the ROM update zip

i again had /data errors so i manually wiped /data again and this time installed the ROM immediately

Now i've skipped the setup and restoring the adb backup. hopefully that works

Seems this will be the last time i will attempt updating the ROM unless i see that there's a solution.

I suspect the problem is caused by the f2fs filesystem the /data partitionuses

Could someone tell me how root Mi10? When i flash last version (21203) from twrp the system don't boot.

Hey there.
Delete this folder
Data/adb/modules/luckypatcher

After booting you can apply the patch again

I'm going to be brave and make the jump from A10 to A11 (currently on 20.12.2), as I have been checking the last few builds for major issues.

So I'm thinking, I'll do the effort to flash back to complete stock like a fastboot ROM and then start the whole process from there. And then root just to restore app and data backups.

@katerpanne you said you have little issues, which TWRP version are you using on your Mi9?
I'm going to copy-kat you to see if I can get a working Mi9 too

I flashed the newest ROM as usually via USB-OTG w/o problems. Update Magisk Manager Canary to newest and flashed 21202.
Everything works perfect
Update: just received 21203 Will give a try later
Just installed 21203 and after second boot SafetyNet passed.
[Edit: Mi 10 (umi)]
[Edit2: I have just discovered (maybe I should have known) that Magisk needs an active Internet connection to function!]

Reading the problems here with this update on a Mi 9T Pro makes me a little reluctant to update.
For those with audio problems:
- did you dirty flash?
- which TWRP are you using?
- Any mods like V4A?

I clean flashed the 21.1.6 update because I couldn't pay with NFC with my banking app (I'm not using Google pay).

Why not use Magisk Manager - much easier to update, and it tells you when there are updates.
I would suggest going to your backup and do it through Magisk Manager.

Clean install is more reliable when going to A11, that's what I experienced. I'm using Titanium backup pro btw.
And check if your current TWRP supports A11.

same problem

It came from the rom 20.11.25, everything working fine, I installed 20.12.9 and the TWRP lost the ability to decrypt

So I stayed there, I found that they published the solution for twrp-3.5.A9-ginkgo-geoanto555.img so I flashed it and could decrypt it, so flash this rom

now my phone only does a bootloop to TWRP but everything is encrypted and does not ask for a password.

flash the TWRP again, flash vbmeta.img but it remains at the same point, encrypted and in bootloop to TWRP.

download the rom ginkgo_global_images_V12.0.3.0.QCOMIXM_20201226.0000.00_10.0_global_044c052090 and install via MIPCSUITE fastboot and only then have I managed to start.

but if I flash again this rom or even 20.11.25 remains in bootloop to TWRP.
now i can't install any rom without getting to bootloop,

I have just updated my Mi Note 10 from the previous weekly without issues. I have just noticed that there is no more the Volte icon in the status bar. Moreover, the Google Phone app crashes: do I need some "tricks" to solve this issue?

Try dialling *#*#86583#*#* for Volte.

im deseperate, i was able to boot in fastboot then install updates with twrp but i have no wifi and fingerprint dont work and if i restart the phone it boots directly in twrp. Seriously since 12.5 i had to wipe everything 3 time to be able to boot in miui, what going on?? i never had any issues that big in the past and since 12.5 on every update i gotta start all over again, now im not even able to restart the phone or ill get stuck in twrp and need a pc if i want to miui to boot, and thats is whitout wifi and a few other thing also. Sorry for all this but its the third time in 2 weeks, i cant be doing that on every update

Because i tried directly from Magisk manager (channel update Canary), it download the .zip (21203) but when i flash i get error (unsupported/unknow image format). So i try to flash the zip from twrp and i have a system crash. Now i'm trying how explained me @geoorg :

Deleted the folder from twrp, but in magisk manager i have same error. Now i'm flashing from twrp and i hope to have a normal boot...

Edit: Ok, deleting folder Data/adb/modules/luckypatcher i flashed magisk from twrp with success. Thanks.

Go into Magisk Manager / Magisk - Install / Direct Install (Recommended)
Then all you have to do is reboot!

No risk of error.

This could be where you are going wrong. Avoid this stage and do as suggested above.

When upgrading roms, please remove the luckypatcher module before upgrading.

Then after the upgrade you can root and patch from LP again

The option "Direct install" wasn't present. I could only choose Download zip and select and update a file.

To everyone who asked before: My Mi9 is a M1902F1G. Wifi working perfectly but not 20W wireless charging. It starts charging, suddenly stops and starts again until it won't charge anymore. After that i have to unplug the cable of my charger and plug it in again.

Some other ones with same model number have wifi issues but i don't. So i guess it doesn't depend on the model. Did you wipe your dalvik cache after dirty flash? Cause i did.
