So other than a maybe unintented sarcasm, Do you mean we can't espect Lollipop for your High-End phone, released on January this year?
No rush. There's no much difference between those Android versions. If your phone works properly why changing android base when you get better and more important updates from MIUI?

Hi,
I'm on sMIUI 5.6.4 and been having some strange battery drain.
I want to try this ROM. Can i flash it over sMIUI?
Also, what are the differences between the two if any?
Thanks.
xiaomi.eu releases are close as possible to the global MIUI releases.
sMIUI is custom ROM based on xiaomi.eu ROM with many changes and modifications.

You can install xiaomi.eu ROM over sMIUI but you have to make wipe all data via MiRecovery after that. Custom recoverys are not supported here.

Unfortunately I have no Mi Note and I don't know exactly what will happen if you try to install xiaomi.eu ROM onto the other system, but I am pretty sure in case of Mi2s not possible to install xiaomi.eu ROM via CWM recovery because this ROM doesn't support custom recovery like CWM. I have tested it with KK and Lollipop based xiaomi.eu aries ROM but I have stucked at Mi logo. Anyway you can try, If you get stuck at Mi logo you can switch back to the previous system
