hi all,

I tried to update 8.7.26 to this version, but I can't boot to recovery to install the ZIP.

What I tried so far:

poweroff, volume UP + power -> If I keep them pressed, it keeps rebooting to the MI logo. When I release them, boots to normal mode.

'reboot to recovery' from Mi Updater -> reboots to normal mode

'adb reboot recovery': boots to normal mode

fastboot flash recovery twrp.img + flash boot twrp.img -> same boots to normal mode.

any other ideas? :S

Apparently the problem is not uniqe, see this (unanswered) thread: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/cant-update-from-8-7-12-to-8-7-19.45179/

On twrp, wipe > advanced wipe > select system > repair or change file system > repair.

Actually I've found the 'unable to extract system to /system' errors upon installation to be caused by already having the 'system' partition mounted by twrp.

Now when you do a wipe, it will automatically mount the 'system' partition if that is the partition you are wiping.

The updater-script within the rom package could do with properly checking whether the partition is mounted or not. I suspect it is not, and expects that the 'system' partition is unmounted, and screw's up the mountpoints.

For the time being, just ensure 'system' is unmounted before installation after a wipe.

TWRP MENU > Mount > 'System' (ensure unticked)

I discovered the above when it surfaced as an issue for my Xiaomi Mi3W when installing. So if others have that issue, give it a whirl.

Other than that, if this is a new installation of TWRP, ensure 'Mount system partition read-only' is unticked.

Best Regards,

Hello Sir,
First of all, thanks for your great work.
I have a question about the forum... is somehow a possible sorting of members' messages in chronological order?

When I use the stable version to open the [system update], it often causes the screen to get stuck. Will the latest weekly version show this situation? My phone model is MI MIX2.

Redmi Note 3 Pro: I had to go back to miui 9 8.4.26. Battery has returned to last as it should and no longer overheats.
The only problem is that the SMS application is automatically closed. Here is the summary of the error:
android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: Can not downgrade database from version 107 to 106

Anybody can help me? Thanks.
It seems on new version the database was changed and there is no way to downgrade, probably the only method is wiping all and if new messages backed up on MiCloud were saved with new version...deleting them

- there was a problem with the authorization of the MI account, when entering the password, it says that the wrong

Device - Redmi Note 3 pro (snapdragon 650 6 core)

When you got your phone, it came with a stable ROM. It is your choice to leave it as it is, or install beta software on it to be at the frontline of ROM development. Why do you think that other phones come "with no need to customize", but on your device you tinker to get the latest feature set? There is also no need to customize for Xiaomi phones. As I said, it is your choice, your's alone. And as always in life, choices come with consequences.
I certainly don't say that I like bugs such as the Bluetooth self-deactivation bug in MIUI10, but yes, they come as a consequence of MY choice to install the new beta ROM. On the ROM the device came with, this bug did not exist. But installing a beta is something you do to help development. You install it, you report bugs, and you live with the fact that from one week to the next features can come and go, and bugs, too. Beta ROMs are not for the faint-at-heart, and they are not MEANT to be "ready for the general public" - although they are stable enough most of the time. If people complain about bugs in beta software, with an attitude that there shouldn't be any bugs (just because one day in the past they paid money for the phone), it is likely that companies go back to the scenario we come from: not releasing ANY beta to the public, and with a much much slower rate of development.
Long story short: Don't install beta software if you're not willing to help in the development, and understand that a beta is ALWAYS "an unfinished product".

Obviously, some people have trouble understanding my English, i was not bitching about the Beta roms, but the lack of a Stable.

Hi people!
I was just trying this ROM and it doesn't boot :/

I'm using a Mi 8 SE, after 15 days of waiting I unlocked the phone, installed TWRP from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/development/recovery-twrp-recovery-3-2-1-mi8se-t3813311
Copied the ROM .zip file to the phone and installed it.
When rebooted, it stays with the Mi logo and the below 3 white points blinking above the android letters, and it stays as that forever (I've waited like 20 minutes).

I have tried wiping Dalvik, Data, Internal Storage, Cache, System, using 8.7.26 version, flashing stock stock china version (it worked), and flashing the rom again. But it still doesn't boot.

Do you know what can I do or try?

EDIT: oh, come on, I just put the message and with 8.8.3 boots correctly... o_O

Have you performed "Format data" in TWRP then rebooted in TWRP before proceding?

Anybody else with Fingerprint Problem?

Mine on my Mi6 is very often not responding on the first touch.

I have to put my finger 2 or 3 times on the reader. 2 or 3 times the phone will not unlock and reader is vibrating.

On the 3rd try it will unlock.

It's definitely more often not working when the screen is turned off a longer time.

Can someone help to resolve the problem.

Thanks.

PS also deleted all fingerprints and recorded 5 new ones but it's the same.

Well, this simply isn't so. You were complaining, verbatim, "But for everyone´s sake and peace of mind, before presenting an unfinished product, hold back for a week or two to sort things out first." - that CLEARLY is about the beta, not the stable. And because they already DO this, there is no stable for the Mi8 yet.

You say "If there was a Stable custom rom available , i would use it, but, for Mi8 there is none !" to which I answered that the phone came with a stable ROM. It is your choice to install a custom ROM instead of the stock ROM your device had, but if there isn't any yet, you'll have to wait until it is ready. "Bitching" will not make anything faster, and doing so in a thread about weekly betas doesn't make much sense either.
