Does format data (in twrp) wipe the OS? or it just wipes everything but keeps OS intact (factory rest)?

I wanna clear my files/accounts from my phone but keep the system intact bc I'm selling it so I wanna make sure that the user account and encryption are gone and files can't be restored. Does format data do the job? And will it also delete the system and I'll have to reinstall it or it just factory rest the system as if its a new phone?

Factory reset doesn't remove the OS. It only wipes user data and cache.

I'm specifically asking about "format data" option. I factory rest by manually wiping data and cache partitions but I wanna make sure format data doesnt affect OS

format data will format data partition, all pictures, musik and so on will be deleted. the os on system partition is not affected
