TL;DR:
- USB port is dead – no PC connection or OTG.
- Have TWRP installed – want to flash another custom ROMs (A13 to A15 or vice versa, LineageOS/crDroid) without USB.
- Need a clear guide on what to wipe, how to preserve data, and how to avoid breaking anything.
- Plan to return to Xiaomi.EU after testing – need steps for reverting.
- Worried about TWRP version compatibility with a specific custom ROM, its Android version, and the risks of flashing without USB.
Hey Xiaomi.eu community!
I’m in a bit of a tricky situation and could really use your help. I'm on the Poco F3, latest Xiaomi.eu HyperOS
My phone’s USB port is dead, so I can’t connect it to a PC via USB cable or even use OTG.
I already have TWRP installed, and I’m wondering if it’s possible to flash other custom ROMs (like crDroid, LineageOS, etc) without needing a PC connection. My goal is to test if some issues I’m experiencing are hardware-related, and then I plan to return to Xiaomi.eu ROM because, honestly, it’s the best ROM I’ve used so far.
Here’s my plan and a few questions:
1. Flashing Without USB: Since I can’t connect to a PC, I’ll need to transfer the ROM zip file to my phone before booting into TWRP. I’m assuming I can flash the whole new ROM directly from internal storage. Is this correct?
2. Process Guide: Could someone provide a step-by-step guide on how to do this? Specifically:
- What options should I select in TWRP (e.g.,
- How do I ensure I don’t accidentally wipe my data partition since the zip ROM which I have to flash is there?
3. Reverting to Xiaomi.eu: Once I’ve tested another ROM, I’d like to return to Xiaomi.eu. Is it as simple as flashing the Xiaomi.eu ROM zip again via TWRP, or are there additional steps I need to take? (Same questions about Android and TWRP versions, do they have to be the same?)
4. Android and TWRP Compatibility
- I’m currently on Android 13. If I flash a ROM based on Android 15, or vice versa, will this cause issues? Are there specific steps I need to follow to ensure compatibility?
- Does the TWRP version matter when flashing between A13 and A15? Should I update TWRP before proceeding, and if so, how can I do that without a USB connection?
I really appreciate any advice or guidance you can provide. Xiaomi.eu has been my go-to ROM for a while now, and I’m just trying to troubleshoot some issues before fully committing to it again. Thanks in advance for your help!
