[HowTo] Install Recovery image

so will there not be any fastboot rom's for Mi 11 anymore in future....will it be only TWRP rom's ? is that confirmed ?
Well, from my experience with Android 13-based Beta for Xiaomi 12, so far it seems that fastboot ROMs might be back with Android 13, because those TWRPs can't decrypt data on it.

Followed steps, but still uable to see storage in twrp
bro, were you able to find the downloaded ROM finally,. even I am in the same boat, cannot find the downloaded EU ROM after clicking on install, how did you fix it ? May i know please. thanks

Thanks a lot for the reply, may I know if I had installed fastboot earlier till 13.0.8 now can we install recovery rom on top of it without a clean format ? Like I went to the TWRP recovery and unable to find the downloaded EU ROM 13.0.9 downloaded in the internal storage. I believe I need to do a clean format and reinstall 13.0.9. Is that correct ? Thanks

Can someone please help.. 12 Pro here with xiaomi eu v13.0.36 firmware. Im trying to install twrp so I can flash the 13.0..37 but when I run the command in fastboot boot twrp.img ( it says sucesfull) but all I get is the black screen. I cant get TWRP to load at all. I have try all fastboot commands and still black screen. If I reboot the phone, it just opens as notmal phone..

Ideas, help? Thanks

What TWRP did you use? If you use the fastboot boot twrp.img command, you must use TWRP (BOOT) or TWRP (REC-BOOT), not TWRP (REC).

If you are using TWRP (REC) you must use the command : TWRP will install permanently. Xiaomi 12 series devices except Xiaomi 12X.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery_ab twrp.img

If you use TWRP (BOOT) you use the command: TWRP will only boot.
Code:
 fastboot boot twrp.img

This applies to devices with A/B partitions.

Yes thats the one I used . v5.6 for 12 Pro.

I changed the zip file to twrp.img.
In fastboot i ran command fastboot boot twrp.img
It says creating boot image
downloading boot image
OKAY Booting
Finished!

And thats it, black screen only. I have to reboot to phone to restart it.

So Im basically stuck in unable to flash new firmware cause old one was glitchy and with a few issues.

Any other solutions please?

You still didn't say which TWRP you used (BOOT) or (REC) ?
You can also try the older TWRP 5.1.

PS:
Such a huge picture is really unnecessary. You could only crop the black part with the text.. ;)

Im such a fool, I have it sorted. I used the full twrp zip file rather them unziping it first and then renaming to img, as I just renamed the .zip file first.

Its working now hopefully!

Hi,
In a previous a message i described my problem with the TWRP which was that i turned the language of the TWRP to Greek from English but i wanted to change it again to English but when i trying to do it the TWRP was restarting (not the phone) and i was keep returning to the options of the TWRP again.
I did the thing that you guys told me in my previous messages but it didn't change anything so i am sending you a video showing my problem that i keep bumping into and also i wanted to ask do is there a file that i need to delete a file in order to at the original settings?
Also how can i unistall the TWRP and reinstall it again .
Every Opinion is welcome
Thank you.

Which flashing method is used makes no difference. Data isn't touched unless you manually wipe/format it.

if TWRP cannot decrypt data, how are you guys releasing the latest EU ROM for MI 11 as TWRP recovery instead of fastboot. Is fastboot on the way ? As I have read somewhere that " MIUI13 Doesn't support TWRP at the moment. You have to update using fastboot ROM on your PC."

He's talking about future Android 13 based releases. Newest Xiaomi.eu is Android 12.

I think my phone is encrypted because of which it's not asking for a password when I login to recovery using twrp.. And it doesn't even show up the download install eu rom 13.0.9 in the internal storage. Does that make sense guys? Can you please advise how to decrypt the download eu rom 13.0.9.. Is there any way to resolve this problem? Or do I need to format it to upgrade to 13.0.9 from 13.0.8.. I have mi 11. Please help any technical people. Appreciate it. Thanks again. Cheers.

did you try this on 1st page and do you have twrp for a12?
If you cant decrypt / see your folders after booting TWRP
- change Pattern/Password to PIN or remove it and try it again
- another solution from @Karpfenhai
- further solution from @digeratz

a query, I have an 11T pro and it is not A/B but when I want to install TWRP with "fastboot flash recovery" it does not install, I get one with an error that says something with "a/" but I was able to install it with "fastboor reboot" but when I was in TWRP it wouldn't let me install the updated ROM and it wouldn't let me exit TWRP when rebooting either, I had to go back to fastboot and install the ROM via fastboot.
please check again if your device is a A/B device or not

# fastboot boot twrp.img

no way the storage could be decrypted i think unless i format the data i will not be able to update and that is annoying and time consuming

I tried to remove pin and still twrp didn't work. 2nd I tried to mount system and then again fastboot twice.. Still I couldn't find the rom installed in the internal memory.
