Upgrade Stable 8.1.6 To Latest Nougat

Hi.
Sorry for noob question, but can i dirt flash the latest 20/1 Nougat ROM over the stable 8.1.6 or is it better to wipe data/cache?
Is there any chance of loosing IMEI or baseband?
After hardbricking my Note 3 Pro i feel little "afraid" of repeating the same on my new MI5, so that the reason of these questions.

Hi..

That both rom has different base..so recommended for best result is wipe all needed, system, dalvik/cache and data then fresh flashing nougat based rom.

About IMEI or baseband..i suggest you to backup first your EFS/IMEI through QPST tool before flashing any custom rom to avoid loosing in the future. You can following this thread here to backup your EFS/IMEI.
