Why Are There Different Rom Versions Of Miui 8?

I'm new to Xiaomi.eu and MIUI EU ROMs and I have doubts about the releases.

Can someone explain why there are different ROM versions of MIUI 8 that seem to not follow the same evolution line?

In the ROMs page currently there are 3 versions:
- 6.7.7/8
- 6.6.30
- 6.6.23
- 6.6.16/17/18

I have 6.6.17 installed on my Mi4c and when I check for updates it says there are no new versions so I assume that 6.6.23 and 6.6.30 are different lines.

What should I expect different between all these versions? Is there any page were we can get more information about the releases, versions and differences?

Well, I can see there's a changelog link but it redirects me to a page from miuios.cz that seems not being updated since 2015 and it doesn't refer the Mi4c device either.

And why can't I update the ROM OTA from 6.6.17 if there are already new versions?

hmm...
does this mean that next month all those versions, including 6.6.7/8 will be available for OTA update?

for me it's fine if I need to update manually to not wait but I want to make sure that versions are on the same line and thus the update is only for a minor version.
