So at beginning we don't have miui v6

That was obvious.
not at all. Mi2 is the phone with the large base and should obivious start with him and develop starting from him and port after on device with more power. Any good engineer start from the lower.

I'm a Mi2 user too, but I'm afraid we don't get MIUIv6 at all.
Mi2 is already two years old and in that two years we haven't been updated to a higher android version.
Just prepare for the worst I would say

Mi1/1S not update to MIUIv6

First of all, the next major update of MIUI would be MIUI 6 (not V6), maybe you should change the title.

Currently, there is no MIUI 6 (for public) at all. But only Mi3 (both versions) & Mi4 will get the alpha test version in about a week (8.16) and not to my surprise, Mi2 sereis isn't in the support list.

Will Mi2 series ever get MIUI 6? - I guess the answer would be yes, but it won't be soon, and won't be as good as it works on Mi3 & Mi4. MIUI V5 hits Mi1 series pretty late, I can't tell when exactly. And as for today, MIUI V5 for Mi1 series is still very buggy and incomplete. From that we can see the attitude of Xiaomi, after all it's all about business, why get the old phones work better instead of selling new phones to old users?

Just business as usual...even saying that MIUI 6 will be available for Mi2 but not run as good as in recent models is kinda...well, weird.

If a phone with a Qualcomm Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor and 2 gb of ram doesn't "deserve" a KK update I wonder what does. This kind of thing is what eventually made me decide that my next phone won't be a Xiaomi (probably a Nexus 5 or the next one). That and the time it took for them to release sources, so we can have a CM port (which I'm using right now). Don't get me wrong, I think Xiaomi makes EXCELLENT hardware and I've enjoyed my time with the Mi2 but I would prefer a different update cycle, maybe one each two or three months and maybe that would give more time to update to more recent versions of android instead of being stuck with 4.1 (officially)...

Edit: I forgot to add something VERY important: if it weren't for the amazing developers we have on this forum, doing their own thing, the Mi2 would be way worse than it is now. Thanks to them we have CM KitKat, MIUI KitKat, real Raw image capture, etc...

only the marketing plan from xiaomi for next product. they can only release v6 for 2nd last device (mi3/mi4) to maintain the quality and forget the past (m1/mi2). i also using mi2s which more pointing that we can get update into miui v6 , or at least KITKAT ota update. more show up your request about this into major miui feedback. hopefully 16/08 will be miracle of mi2/s :)

Yeah, I'm just guessing after all. There're a number of reasons that Mi1 series can't run MIUI V5 as smooth as Mi2 series. Maybe the hardware isn't powreful enough? But even the low-end phone HongMi 1 runs MIUI V5 fine. And most importantly, there're a number of bugs on MIUI V5 for Mi1 series reported repeatedly by users yet never ever get fixed. In short, Xiaomi did not put any effort on supporting the old devices at all.

Don't get me wrong, I myself uses a Mi2S since last year and have been very happy with it since it comes with unlocked BL and root (with official dev builds) and there're a number of custom roms for it. I'm just not so confident to Xiaomi.

PS: I don't think any "miracle" would happen to Mi2 series soon.

they ever listen user's report bug? I pointed a bug with mi2 from the first time V5 showed up for public and it was never fixed

Miui? What is Miui?

When I buy a phone it needs to fullfill my needs hardware-wise... Software? I don't really care about the OS, as long as it's android and has a big community working on the device. That's how I pick my phones :) You can't trust a company for aftersales, you can trust a community for bringing you the most useful and nicest roms!

Next phone will be Xperia Z3 Compact, there will be a lot of developers and it will have top of the shelf hardware in a compact body, just like my beloved M2s :D

Big thanks too ALLLLLLLLLLL the DEVS out there ;)
