Hi,

Here is a first version of universal tool for MiPad 2, that allow you
1. Change bootloader state (lock, verified, unlock) without wiping/damaging your data partition. So no format, no 963 error.
2. Allow to fix problems with Market (applications not downloading, error 963 an so on), fixing problem with entering recovery/fastboot mods with buttons combinations, fixing problems with data partition size (usually happen after moving from Windows to Android). Some of fixed will require to wipe your data partition. Be aware.
3. Flash TWRP (2.8.7.0 and 3.0.3.0 with MTP support provided with a tool, you can change this version to any another that valid for our device including original). Note, if you will flash TWRP, you need to set your bootloader state to "unlock".
4. Flash fastboot ROM (boot/bootloader/system) provided by me or original. Image files should be placed into ROM subfolder. You shouldn't care about bootloader state doing this.

This toolbox is not fixing "error 03" for unlocked bootloader! You can fix this error by flashing boot/bootloader images from Xiaomi.eu ROM (I would never do like this).
Nore, that valid Windows drivers added to Driver subfolder. You don't need to search for them.

Idea of that toolbox was to have all in one. To stop you looking into multiple threads with multiple different instructions (old/new/not valid and so on). I can add other features later on request.

Version updated 14.02.2017.

That's all folks! Cheers and Mary Christmas!

PS. We survived after Christmas and New Year. From now Toolbox working from everywhere - adb/dnx/fastboot.

Hi Papka, im pulling my hair out and need help. I bought my son a Mi Pad 2 64gb for christmas. Has Miui 8.1.1.0.0 stable and playstore installed by vendor. Playstore giving the 963 error. Have spent 2 days now trying to fix this before i came upon your post here. Im getting confused after reading so much instructions. Im struggling because the instructions arent very good. They never say where to download files. I never know if they mean to the tablet or to the pc. Its so confusing to me. I can follow instructions if they are well written but using lots of Jargon like download adb and twrp and lots of other files but not telling me where to download them, tablet or pc is driving me crazy. A set of good detailed instructions would be fantastic to many im sure. Ive figured out ADB goes on PC and i think twrp goes on tablet but i cant get tablet to talk to PC or can i use browser on tablet to download twrp straight onto tablet? Still not sure why i need twrp? Doesnt ADB do it all? Im so confused sorry.

I see you have made a toolbox for the Mipad which is awesome but again i have no idea how to install or run it. Do i install to pc or to tablet?

My next problem is im running windows 7 on my PC and cant get the MTP usb device driver to recognise mi pad 2. I can tap 7 times developer mode and enable usb debugging but computer cant see tablet and neither can adb when i type adb devices. Going crazy here. ive downloaded installed intel android drivers latest. Nothing working. Computer fails everytime to load drivers when i plug in saying device drivers unsuccessful..

Ive done a factory reset many times and can get to recovery menu using Vol + and Power Buttons but can not get into fastboot no matter what i do. I shutdown Mi pad and hold Vol Down and Power switch but it just boots up. Im regretting ever buying this and my son is tearing up as i tell him i dont think i can get this playstore error fixed. Please help me. Im at the end of my tether and just dont know what to do anymore.

In Summary, I cant connect to PC and cant fix playstore 963 error or get into fastboot.

Appreciate any help here. Is windows 7 the issue?

Ok. Download Toolbox and extract it somewhere on your PC. Open Toolbox folder in Wind0ws explorer, then click right mouse button at empty place inside opened folder and choose "Open command window here". Then connect your device to PC. Then inside black window type - tool.bat and read response. If you will get message that device not found try to install drivers from Driver subfolder inside Toolbox folder. Then run tool.bat once again until you will reach menu. From this menu you will be able to fix all your problems.
I just uploaded new version, so please re-download if you downloaded it before.

Thanks Papka will download now and Try. Will keep you posted. Thanks for quick reply. Ive had a thought after reading your post, is it possible vendor flashed this from a windows tablet to android tablet to fill my order and thats why im having issues?

Sure, this might be a case.

Papka, Tool.bat couldn't find device. I loaded the drivers. This took some time and said loaded successfully. I rebooted PC and tried again but still getting MTP USB drivers failed message when connecting Mi Pad 2. Tool still gives error not detecting device.

To check this isn't a PC issue i grabbed my Cube U65GT and plugged it in. Drivers loaded successfully instantly and the dialogue box popped upped asking what i wanted to do. I then turned USB debugging on and PC responded. This appears to be an issue with my Mi Pad 2. I am at my wits end. Do you have any other thoughts on what i can do. Is there a workaround. Is there something in settings on the Mi Pad im not doing. In Developer Options i have USB Debugging on. Is there anything else?

Toolbox will give you error, because device not found. You need to get drivers installed.

Ok. Try these drivers: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7Nb0mR1oVUWR1N6VWhkLUxBZ0U/view?usp=sharing
Install them manually - connect MiPad2 to PC and when you will get unknown device or something else, point to folder you extracted drivers to get them from there. Ignore any windows warnings. Should work.

Ok Papka, Briefly i installed those drivers and still got same error. So i took USB cable from front port and plugged into rear of computer. Immediatley autorun detected MiPad and put up dialogue box. I almost fell over. So i touched nothing and quickly ran tool.bat. It detected device (yellow writing) and then immediately said error with drivers and no longer detected device. The tablet is now displaying DNX fastboot mode in yellow writing on screen. I've touched nothing. I reloaded the intel drivers you have just in case they needed it but still not being detected anymore. Help dont know what to do. How do i get out of DNX mode

I got it out of DNX fastboot mode ok. i Pushed Vol+ and power key for a short while and screen went off and then MI logo and it booted to normal screen. Its back to normal, i think. Ive plugged it in and its detected immediately with an autorun windows box. Now im not sure what to do to go to next step. How do i fix playstore error. Does tool.bat do it for me or do i need to run programs separately?

Thanks Papka. Just having the computer see the device now is like huge progress. If we can get playstore working my young boy might actually get his xmas present. Breaks my heart to see tears in his eyes everytime i try something and it doesnt work. He will be very happy that the PC can see the device now. Im not game to run tool.bat until i hear from you. That DNX mode scared me to death. Thought i had bricked it.

Be sure, all activities with Toolbox are safe. So, as I understood, you can see your device in windows, so drivers installed. Now do, as I wrote before, run tool.bat (do not forget to connect your device first) and wait until menu will appear. Then choose Fix market item. Then exit tool and when your device will boot into android, Market will works.
And remember - it's not possible to brick device. So no one of your activity can do this. Let me know about the result.

And another thing. It's up to you, but I would not recommend to stay with 8.1.1.0. I would recommend latest developer ROM with weekly OTA updates. This "stable" is just a cut of more then 2 month old developer ROM.

Thanks Papka. I ran tool.bat. Worked fantastic Menu appeared. Selected Market and it successfully ran. Pressed zero and exited at completion. Playstore returned error 963. Thought i was almost there. What do you think Papka? I factory reset it and then ran tool.bat again. It successfully did market again but still returning error 963. Should i run any of the other things on your menu? Should i flash latest developer rom?and try again. If so please help me as ive never flashed a rom before but from what i can see, it looks easy using your tool if im correct. eagerly awaiting your reply. I feel we are so close to getting this tablet working properly. Thanks Papka.

That's strange. Try such sequence:
1. Choose option (1) to set your bootloader state to "verified"
2. Choose "fix market" option.
3. Exit tool.bat

Market should work. Let me know.

Ok Thanks Papka. Pressed 1. Bootloader shows Verified. Then 5 Fix Market error. I cant Believe it. It worked. You Papka are a legend. My son is ecstatic. He is loading his games from playstore and google play. We cant Believe it after days and nights of trying to repair this its finally done. And your batch file makes this a breeze. For anyone with same problem its this simple. This is what worked for me.

1. Copy Papkas' Universal Tool for Mipad to a directory anywhere on your PC.

2 Connect Mipad to PC. Enable usb debugging. i.e. Go to settings, then tap on "About Phone" then keep on tapping on "miui version" until it says Developer mode on bottom of screen. Then go to developer options and enable USB Debugging.

3 Navigate to folder where you downloaded Papkas' Universal Tool for Mipad. Put mouse pointer in a blank spot in that folder and hold shift key and right click mouse to bring up menu. Click on "open command window here". A black command window should appear. Type tool.bat at the prompt in the command window and hit enter. Toolbox should run and see your device and give you a menu to select from.

4 Press 1 and hit enter. Toolbox should return that bootloader is verified. Main menu should reappear again.

5 In my case press 5 to fix google play store (Market) 963 error. When finished press zero to exit.

Mipad should reboot and be like a new tablet. This is a great tool that all Mi Pad 2 users will use. It also offers lots of other great features. Thanks Papka. Your hard work and effort is much appreciated.

Playstore and google apps working great now. But app called "Snapchat" loads for a second and disappears/crashes.

Papka can your tool flash the latest developer Rom. If so can you list the steps please and link to latest developer rom.

Thanks again for making my son very happy. His MiPad 2 Christmas present working great except for snapchat app. Couldnt have done this without your help or your tools. We both thank you.

Ok. Great to hear, that all is working for you. Now I know, what I should adjust in Toolbox. Thx for testing. :)
Now about ROM. Take it from here: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/fastboot-rom-with-gapps-root-and-some-other-stuffs.34148/
You need to take "Images based on China dev 6.12.8". Note, you need RAR5 compatible archiver to extract!
Put extracted files directly into ROM subfolder of Toolbox. Connect your device, run tool.bat and choose Flash ROM item. Then exit. After boot you will get dev ROM. Then wait for 5 min and reboot your device (this required to disable unnecessary Google services). After reboot go to Updater app and update your dev ROM to latest available. That's all. You will be prompted to update SuperSu. You can do this, just using "Normal" method and then reboot once again. :)

Hi Papka,

I just wanted to say thank you for your TOOLBOX.

I purchased few days before Christmas MiPad 2 for my wife, and it came with MIUI7.

I had many Xiaomi phones and I never experienced problems with updating Mi3, Mi4, Redmi 3 manually, and Mi5 (Iast one I updated it thru OTA).

So, when MiPad 2 arrived I downloaded latest ROM from EU (MIUI8 xiaomi.eu 6.12.15), and then blackout.

I renamed it as always to update.zip, transfer it to tablet and went thru updates – choose update package. Tablet rebooted and after few seconds of showing MI logo screen went black.

I tried to power off / and on but every time the same situation. When I reconnected it to computer I could hear windows sound that I connected device, but I didn’t see anything in device manager.

As MiPad was connected the whole time thru cable I couldn’t start it. I thought that I broke It. I tried volume down and power but I saw picture of Fastboot and that was it. I decided to power it off and leave it on charger.

Then I bought another Chrismast gift because I was sure that these one won’t be repaired before Christmas.

Next day when I got to work I saw that tablet is powered up but still with MIUI 7. I thought what the hell I am going to try one more time same procedure, but with different ROM.

Same situation happened again, but when I tried to change computers I unplugged MiPad 2 and realized that I could start it on power button after pressing it for cca 7 seconds.

Next 2 days I read whole bunch of reviews and videos how to upgrade MiPad 2 but still no help because I didn’t have menu (TWRP) like on previous phones.

Finally, I came across this post on forum and decided to try your TOOLBOX.

First I successfully upgrade it to ROM China dev 6.12.8 but all my phones are on MIUI Adria, so I changed it to xiaomi.eu 6.12.15 and almost everything working like a charm.

For now, I see that MX Player keeps crashing so I removed it and put VLC player. My wife plays Farm Story 2 but for some reason after a while game closes by itself. And third my wife uses exchange server for mail but it keeps saying wrong username or password, but on MI3 it works perfectly.

I found for all three things that other people also have same problem so I know that It is not local problem.

Sorry for longer post, but I just wanted to share my story and let you know that you made remarkable job with toolbox and made my life lot easier J

Nice to hear. About MX player - you are using wrong version. I have no crashes at all. Let me know, if you need it, I'll share.

Yeah. I found this bug. Going to fix today. As quick fix - open tool.bat in text editor, find a row with this text and put rem before 3 rows that follow this row. Save file and run again after booting into android.

This tool worked great for me on my Mi Pad 2 to fix Google Play Store 963 error. I have put up with this problem for over 6 months and had to make do with a third party app store. This worked OK but Chrome would regularly crash so it wasn't ideal. Plus I couldn't download some of my paid-for apps, like Nova Launcher Premium. This tool is just what I needed as I am not sufficiently versed in ROM tweaking to do anything like this on my own. Great work! Many thanks to the developer!

Did you flashed TWRP? If not, then use Toolbox once again and set bootloader state to verified.
