Hi all!

Yesterday I received my Xiaomi Dafang in Spain. I am fighting to connect and use it. By the moment is imposible to link with my account. I have tried Google Play app also the app included in user-manual QR code. Always with locales set to the first option (mainland).
I realize that the first 30 second the camera connects to wifi and respond to ping but is not listed in my devices. In other cases the camera is connected to wifi, it responds to ping, blue led fixed, but the same case, timeout connection and it is not listed in my devices.

Can somebody share more information....by the moment I am very disappointed with the product.

Regards.

UPDATE: finally the camera works fine in Spain. After try more than 20 times I changed the steps I followed and it works, inclusive the camera pan and till.
I am going to detail the steps I follow:

1- Uninstall the app and reinstall the app from google play, version 4.2.5
2-Set locale as China Mainland (if you do not see that, it is the first one with Chinese letters) and Language to English.
3-Create a new account with this new setup (I do not know if is really necessary)
4-Add the new camera as device. Select the the device with its name end with '1080'.
5-Press the setup button about 10 second to make a camera full reset.
6-Press the setup button again one, then confirm in app.
7-Select the wifi network to connect the camera (in this case I was connected to one wifi and I connected the camera to a different Wifi, I do not know if this was the key).
8-Show the QR code to camera and confirm at app,
9-At this step I do not hear the Chinese record before 100%, the process complete without any voice message.
10- The last step is assign the camera to a room.

With this steps I have my Xiaomi Dafang runnin in Spain with full controll.

I hope this will be helpfull.

Regards.

Hi fellow dutchies and EU neighbors :)

I guess it is no rocket science to let this camera work in Europe. If you follow the steps above from cpocarlos you should get it to work. Still, I want to add some things I discovered yesterday.

When I role back mihome to version 4.2.5 (app store) the camera worked and also the plugin. I knew version 4.3 wasn't working so I tried version 5. Strangely enough it is available and have a total different look. Maybe it's a beta or something. I found it here . So I installed version 5 (coming from the working 4.2.5) and I can look at the camera! Because mihome had a totally diffirent look you can see a preview of the camera images in some kind of popup. When you click on the popup the plugin is opening....unfortunately the plugin is not opening for the defang. All my other xiaomi devices (I have 4 :)) are working but not the defang. I guess if it is a beta there is no plugin yet or something? Maybe you guys can experiment with this ?

So now I'm again on version 4.2.5 so I can watch en control the camera. BUT...there is bit of a problem. Version 4.2.5 has very pore English translation and there are a few screens that are totally abracadabra for me. So I REALLY hope there are some Chinese speaking guys or girls around here that can translate the setting screen. I made some screenshots of the different screens .....

Would be realllly appreciated!

Hello everyone

Xiaomi dafang 1080P

I struggle a bit with the chinese instructions but managed to install the software and pair the camera, but it times our all the time un the percentage page.

it seems it's down to location (servers) that this product does not work properly

I am UK based and have tried:

- Latest "mihome" application release X
- latest "mihome" application release + updates X
- old "mihome" application from android store no updates X

all the above using main china location and english language under settings.

- Changing location to every country..X the 1080 is not even listed on most of them.

Still not able to connect to the camera as times out.

What am I missing ?? advise much appreciated.

My camera was working. Poor, but works (mihome version: 4.2.5). Now after updating fimrmware to 5.2.1.200, Mihome does not connect to my dafang. I've tried a few mihome versions.
Worst camera in the world!!!

Hello everyone

Finally got it working due to help and instructions previously found here...Note: I am on android phone(s)

1. Install latest "mihome" version and update everything it tells you to including [camera firmware(s)]
At this point after pairing the camera... it should be seen on your available devices and should show it's status(online).
double tapping on the camera icon should also provide a preview image but nothing else(no camera control).
3. Then uninstall mihome app, get the one from "play store" 4.2.5v <--do not update this one !

- Always use china location (first on the list with chinese characters) language , default or English work fine for me.

Just then, I had full control of it of the camera.

Personally, I think the camera is a good product, the problem is down to servers and support outside the provided areas.

Thank you

Hi guys I was messing around and managed to get the camera connecting again even with the latest MiHome version.

Just changed the language from English to Default and connected straight away!

This is true.. Latest firmware and app version 5 are working just fine

Assuming installs are from android play and firmware updates + plugins are from 'mihome' app.

Question though... as this runs in china does someone knows :

1. how much storage do we have in those servers (automatic recordings still growing)
2. how private are those videos ??? :s

Thanks

Hello friends.

Im getting kinda frustrated with this Dafang camera.
Im on version 5.0.10 now i can connect to the dafang camera's i have 2 when im on my Wi-Fi.

But when i try to connect from outside on mobile network or another Wi-Fi network connection failes.

While my Yi smart camera always works.
No mather where i am.

Sometimes it does connect when im outside but mostly it does not work.

I do get this message : connection time out retry after checking unobstructed.
And then the camera start again with connecting 1/3

Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

I installed the application again and deleted the data. Before the first start, I lock the application, access the location. It's working. But it needs a good internet connection (LTE).

Same here. Got camera today, unable to connect. Aparently there is difference if you choose US or China server. On China server im getting timeout error, on otherservers when i click on camera nothing happens.
I have the solution! 1. Install mi home 4.2.5. 2. chose Chinese server. 3. Insert SD in your camera. 4. push to the reset button until yellow led starts blinking. 5. After that you push another time in reset button. 6. Than do normal steps to connect your camera with your app mi home. 7. Once it is connected, update camera software and update your mi home app. 8. enjoy !

Guys I have exactly the same issue. I have added the device to the Mi Home list and is shown online. The light on the camera is blue fixed which confirms it is online. I'm using MiHome ver. 4.3.15 downloaded from the official Xiaomi Store (app.mi.com).
I have set the country as China Mainland and the language English.
If I click on the Dafang in the MiHome list nothing happens. If I click on any other items in my list, the relevant plugin starts correctly.
As nothing worked, I have tried to update the camera firmware and also to delete and re-add the Dafang, but same issue as before.

I have read above that someone solved the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling the MiHome app, but he didn't explain which version of the MiHome app worked for him and where he downloaded it from (the Google Play Store?).

Why updating the MiHome app should be avoided? I remember that for the XiaoYi ants camera the issue was with the camera's firmware update as Xiaomi had put a country restriction at a certain point so it was necessary to avoid the firmware's update, but the update of the MiHome app had nothing to do with it and was just fine. Please explain better.

The same, but without the microsd. I think a long press to reset the Dafang is the key. After that I was able to pair the cam and update the firmware. China Mailand was the choosen one.

I have tested everything in here. My Dafang camera was working great for a month, now I have the "Retry" message. I can reset it , I can pair it, I can do everything but connecting to the live video image.
I have tried Mi Home 4.2, and the latest 5.0.19, no luck. I have the latest firmware on the camera also.
Any ideas?

Magic, it started to work again today out of the blue. Maybe it was a XiaoMI server overload issue.

After trying a lot of Mi Home versions from Aptoid I just got mine working... Setup to Mainland China, English, version 5.3.13. Reset several times until da fang picture appears in radar. Follow the Chinese instructions. Get your camera near the router and hope for the best. It did work for me when I was about to stop trying. After all the readings and the tries it seems like a random thing...not good btw

Hello I don't know if this is the right thread for my question but I would like to ask if we can use the dafang as webcam on windows with Skype.
