;)

I use the Mi 9 with version 21.6.2. I tried TWRP_Fix_MIUI_Custom_Ringtones_v1.2.zip and it fails because Folder "/data/system/theme_magic" is not existing. "/data/system" contains only folders with cryptic names.

Next I tried TWRP_Fix_MIUI_Custom_Ringtones_v1.3.zip but it says patch already applied.
The problem is still existing. Mi Remix Ringtone will be used all time.

Hello, in your case you need to use a working TWRP for your device. ;)

'/data/system' must be decrypted if you want to use my zip file. :)

puh, really complicated! I am afraid of losing my data.
I hope that your fix will be integrated in the next release and then works properly. ;)

It's really not complicated to change your custom recovery. ^^

Latest Official TWRP for your device can be downloaded here => https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=2188818919693777933

Put the new TWRP (.img file) in root of the internal storage of your Mi 9 then boot in your current TWRP:

Go in "Install" menu => Tap on "Install image" button => Select the new TWRP (.img file) and install it in "Recovery" partition.

In main TWRP menu, go in "Reboot" menu in TWRP => "Recovery" then try to install my zip again.

;)

Hey, thanks a lot! My problem was the older TWRP - after the update everything works great! :D

Hello there,

I am using Mi 11 with 12.5.7 Stable Rom. I am having the same ringtone issue that I can select and set a custom ringtone butmy phone is playing default theme ringtone for cellular calls while WhatsApp calls are updated to the new ringtone. Can you help me with this or provide me a guide on how to install this fix?

I would really appreciate any help on this.

Kind regards,
Shahzad Shahab

Hello,

To install the "Fix" (zip file), you need to boot in TWRP (Hold " Vol + " and " Power " buttons simultaneously) then go in "Install" menu and install the zip file here.

Reboot your device when it's done.

Thanks for the quick reply man and I do have a few questions:

1- Do I need to copy the zip file to the phone, if yes where?
2- Does this fix goes away with the next update?
3- Ima update the phone with the latest release of 12.5.8 (released 22 hours ago) do I still need this fix?

Really sorry if I am being a man but this my first phone, which I am customizing, and just don't mess up my new phone. Really appreciate all the help!

Regards.

No problem. ;)

1- Copy the zip file in the root of internal storage of your device
2- This fix should stay after ROM update
3- I don't know but you can install the fix at any time.

If you have an issue to display your files/folders in "Install" menu of TWRP, then try to boot in Fastboot mode (Hold " Vol - " and " Power " buttons simultaneously) and use fastboot boot twrp.img command to boot TWRP on your device.

Appreciate your quick response.

Okay so I tried booting in TWRP and the options my phone is showing are Reboot, Wipe Data, and Connect with MI Assistant.

Any help on how to select the ZIP that I just copied in my phone's storage Root folder?

Regards.

Your device has the stock "Mi" recovery and not TWRP (custom recovery). ;)

Follow the fastboot mode process to boot TWRP on your device. :)

Thanks for the info and I really appreciate your constant quick replies.

Can you also tell me where should if I go through the second method for Fast Boot, where should I use the command "fastboot boot twrp.img"?

I am sorry, if I am sounding dumb because to be very honest, I have literally no clue about half of the terms used on this page. It's just frustrating that I can't set custom ringtones on my own phone lol and that's why I just wanted to get this fixed.

Regards.

Follow this amazing guide for your device => https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/guide-install-twrp-for-mi-11-pro-ultra.61239/

You don't need to do step 4, 9 and 10. ;)

After step 8, install my zip file in TWRP and reboot your device.

Do not forget to thanks @hoangsang for the guide. :)
