MiJia Compact Smart Projector Wifi Problem

hey I don't want to speak too soon, but I might have found a clumsy fix.

my network set up previous to this evening was:

Virgin Media Superhub 4 running in modem-only mode >>> Orbi mesh network >>> Mi Projector

I just remembered that I have another small xiaomi extender (this one) plugged in to extend my wifi outside the house. It has its own network name from the main mesh.

I tried connecting the projector to this network and it suddenly seems to be working ok!

Virgin Media Superhub 4 running in modem-only mode >>> Orbi mesh network >>> Xiaomi Extended Network >>> Mi Projector

Look at these speed differences. I've gone from being totally unable to connect and on good days only getting an intermittent 10 mbps (red circle) to consistently getting around 30mbps without dropouts (green circle)

I guess it might just crap out again in the coming days, but I'm ok with this if it holds up.

i spoke too soon, it's been playing up again

I had exactly the same issue as described here and tried all different kind of steps proposed here. What actually worked was setting the date/time to automatic / retrieve from network on the projector itself. Now it's working using both 2.4 and 5 GHz connection and it seems to be stable so far.

are you able to indicate where that setting is?

Hello
I have disabled 5G on the home router, now the WIFI works fine.
It is not a solution but I am satisfied.
But I would like to know if I can disable 5G only on the projector but I can't find a way to do it, there is no menu.
On the XDA forum spocky12 has developed a special app for Xiaomi projectors and using that you have access to special menus but even with that app I can't find anything about WIFI.
I keep looking.

Seems to be pretty stable - connection rarely drops anymore.
weirdly, my connection still drops here and there, but the download speed is very high and the upload speed is almost nothing.
why would changing that setting affect the connection like that? any idea?

I am actually having a 1 Gbps connection, so about half of it should fine be through wifi. Nevertheless I get 66 mbps down and 81 mbps up with the Wi-Fi router being located nearby. Anyhow, that’s acceptable for me for now, but an update would be appreciated to bring things back to normal

Tengo exactamente el mismo problema. Con la 5G no funciona y la 2.4 va lentísima y se corta constantemente. He tenido que conectar mi Fire TV para utilizar el proyector. Alguien sabe algo de un ppsible parche o actualizacion del software?

When I watch a movie on NeTFlix in HD if the video buffer is loaded with data it disconnects and reconnects
yes look at just how unstable the wifi is.
in the space of 60 seconds it can swing from 150mbps to 0.6mbps

Hi, I've asked a month ago the Xiaomi Global Service about this issue. Here is the answer:

"Hello, Greetings from Xiaomi Customer Support! This is Ida.
We at Xiaomi value your trust and we apologize for the inconvenience. Rest assured that we'll assist you on this. We would be grateful if you could share your country/region with us.
According to your description, I would like to request you to perform the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Check whether there is any special character in the Wi-Fi name, change the router's Wi-Fi name and password to English/number type, and then try to connect.
2. Please check whether the Wi-Fi password is correct. Select the Wi-Fi name, press "Right button" on the remote control, and then select "Ignore this network", and then re-enter the password.
3. Check whether the router turns on the DHCP function. If you turn off DHCP, the TV will not automatically get the IP address.
4. Check whether the router restricts more terminal access. If the router only allows whitelist devices to access Wi-Fi, add the projector's MAC address to the whitelist and try again.
5. Check whether the projector can connect to other Wi-Fi (such as mobile hotspot) : If it can, please restart or reset the router;
6. If it cannot be connected, please restore the projector to factory Settings and try to connect to Wi-Fi again.

We appreciate for your patience and understanding.
Hope the above information can help you. If you have any other questions, welcome to visit again. Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen!"

I think I've checked all of these before, but I'll do again, beleiving that something wonderful is about to happen..... :D

Those are automatic answers. Of course it won't work as we know.

stupid answers. the projector works fine for months then suddenly stops working after an update, with everything else in the environment staying exactly the same

hmm.. wonder what could have happened!?
