Flash a fastboot rom with flash_all.bat will merge data and sd-card partitions.
The sd-card will be a virtual partition in the data partition.

Are you sure 100 percent of that? it will merge everything data and app in one single big partition?
Don't want to wipe all and then i'm in the same position

Yes, I did it three times with 2 differents Mi2S.

If you want to merge the partitions you have to wipe all.
Maybe make a backup and save it on the pc

Ok, I'm italian and my english is not perfect, but I'll try to explain myself.
Aries has two different "partitions":

1) Memory Partitions: Mi2s at the beginning has memory for the apps (the famous 3.7 Gb), and memory for Data (such as documents, multimedial file). In the 5.5.15 version of Miui, Xiaomi decided to merge this two MEMORY partitions in one memory: you should have had to flash the 5.5.15 Miui zip via Mi PC Suite and fastboot. Unfortunately this zip is no longer avaiable, it's too old, and flash the most recent update via Mi PC Suite will not work. So the only thing you can do is change the partition's table, and bring some Gb from Data partition to Apps partition.

2) System partitions: Mi2s, such as some other Xiaomi's devices, has two system: system 1 and system 2. When you flash a zip from Updater app, it will be flashed into the system not in use (for example if you are in system 2 with Miui 5.11.12, updater will flash the update 5.11.19 into system 1, so if something goes wrong, you can switch into system 2 via recovery and return to Miui 5.11.12). After the Miui 5.11.19/20 Update, this SYSTEM partitions will be merged, so via recovery you'll be not longer able to switch from system 1 to system 2 and vice versa, because there'll be only one unique system!

Hope you understand
Does this also mean that it will be possible to encrypt the phone with the phone having only one system?

So every Miui update flashed via fastboot and MiFlash, will merge memory partitions? I thought only 5.5.15 update! :)

Hi, I've got a big problem: I installed hermes 5.11.19/20 and every time I close facebook my device (Redmi Note 2) restarts. I don't know if it's a rom's bug or something else... Somebody else with the same problem? How can I solve it?

hello people, i have a XIAOMI RedMi Note 4G LTE 64bit Snapdragon 410 5.5'' Ecrã HD IPS 13.0MP 3100mAh with 1Gb RAM and 8GB ROM and is DUAL SIM

Can you tell me what ROM e need to choose? im confused, because most part of redmi note is 2 GB RAM and 8GB ROM.

Thanks

For what it is worth, I am still using 5.10.22 for my Redmi Note 2 Prime and I think it is
the best ROM. Very stable and with excellent battery usage and wifi coverage.
I was lucky since I only tried two rom updates from Xiaomi.eu and decided
to stick to 5.10.22 (2nd one) after reading the problems with the new update releases.
I just use the update app - copy the rom zip file to the main filesystem (not SD) and
renaming it as "update.zip" I then use update app to boot the phone to "Recovery mode"
and select the "update.zip" file for update. Before selecting the file, I do wipe the Dalvik cache
before initiating the update. I did not install any additional TWRP, etc.. software..

I do thank the brave souls who try the new rom updates weekly so that the timid ones
like us know if the rom are good to proceed. THANK YOU!!!

I instelled the 5.11.19 on my redmi note 2.
The wifi doesn't work correctly.
If the phone goes in standby, the wifi automatically switch off. When the dispaly is open, it turns automaticly on.The wifi settings is on ALWAYS ACTIVE.
I have a backup and I restore all, but the problem persists.
The battery starts to drain on.
I usually got 2 days of usage with the 5.11.09. With the 5.11.19 10hrs.

On which version are you now?

I installed the 5.4.25 via fastboot wiped everything, sd too.
Then i put the smiui version 5.11.19, update via updater (via recovery wasn't possible don't know why). Everything is great, no more memory problems!

Mi2 users,

If you want to make sure your system partitions are merged, then install Terminal Emulator from play store, launch the app and type df command and enter. If systems are merged successfully you can see 1009,3MB size next to system. If systems are not merged you can see 504,4MB size next to system

now i can install tons of app i want!
I love this terminal, mi2...and i own a mi4 too (now shipment in china, i have problem since 3 months with display)

why just from now? This option merge Data partition and Internal Storage has been available since release 5.4.24

Current topic is about merge two systems into one in order to get able to install later updates. Check result with Terminal Emulator

Please check the other topic of merged system partitions: please install the below app and just run it to see if you still have modem and modem1, boot and boot1 and system and system1:

Thanks for that. If you see system1, modem1 and boot1 in addition to system, modem and boot partition, then 5.11.19 does not yet have merged system partitions.
