Thanks for your support. Reboot in recovery has always the same result. The TWRP version I´m using since May (was new for MIU8.3 7.5.11) doesn´t work anymore (frozen display). The newer TWRP from suggested page isn´t possible to install with my current used MIU8.6 7.6.8/10. from last week.

Why you can't install it? Install in fastboot mode.

Try to set system language to English and test if carousel is working. If so then it is language problem. Then you have to report it to your language translation repository mentioned in Post #1. Is this really so difficult to understand?

I can select screen timeout no problem in my mi5.

I have a mix. I already have 7.6.15 but there is a problem with the carousel background. Can I reinstall the refreshed update? Or can some problems arise?

there is a bug in MI5s Nougat, if you start a voip call (skype,telegram,whatsapp...) there is no audio and after that there is no audio in any app. here is the log: (remove spaces please)

Normally you have an icon there were you can choose, delete and change the pictures from wallpaper Carusel
