is it possible to get an official xiaomi.eu instruction howto enable encryption and update the ROM with encrypted phone?
I've searched for it in the forum and at google but I found only some solutions that don't work for sure.

Enable storage encryption in the Settings - Advanced settings - Device encryption
In the next update, you will have to input your pattern/password/PIN in TWRP for decrypt storage and install zip

Did anyone else notice a difference in battery status between starting the phone up normally in "Android" vs. starting up in TWRP ?
For me ( MI5S ) TWRP report about 10% less battery power than "Android". Weird. Not connected to this build. I switched TWRP together with MIUI 10, so either one of those initiated that change. Previously the two reported about the same battery level.

Indeed, happens to me on many phones, from Xiaomi, leeco, nexus.....

It reinforces my feeling that Xiaomi support goes down.. On most 2 years devices.

No, this problem still here without any patches. It's about layout problem of QuickSearchBox.apk. I firgured it out

Hello,

Since last 2 December Mi8 versions, I noticed that the /etc/hosts file is not taken into account during IP name resolutions : all advertisements are present now, they were blocked till end of November releases.

Has someone found why?
And hopefully found a way to make it work again?

I use Magisk 1.8 and adaway with a symlink from /etc/hosts (actually /system/etc/hosts) to /data/data/hosts. The hosts file is correctly updated by the app.
