Hello,

Since last 2 December Mi8 versions, I noticed that the /etc/hosts file is not taken into account during IP name resolutions : all advertisements are present now, they were blocked till end of November releases.

Has someone found why?
And hopefully found a way to make it work again?

I use Magisk 1.8 and adaway with a symlink from /etc/hosts (actually /system/etc/hosts) to /data/data/hosts. The hosts file is correctly updated by the app.

Hello guys! I have no mobile data on MI6 using this and previous version. Mobile data works on any other custom ROM and on MIUI eu stable, but here it cannot connect to the network. Any ideas?

I've just noticed that only some websites works from the default browser speed dial - gmail, google, cnn, wikipedia, fb and yt. But can't login to play store/add google account to the phone, cannot load other websites.

yep same here on mi8, came from 8.8.30 with twrp 3.2.3-0806, did the ota update and now the device bootloops back into twrp.

gonna try a twrp update, reflash and see what happens.

No, this problem still here without any patches. It's about layout problem of QuickSearchBox.apk. I firgured it out

How about add this feature on MIUI for better/improved security:

Disable POWER BUTTON on lock screen or remove power off, restart, airplane mode on the power option.

This is very important, how are we supposed to track the phone or ring the phone when its been stolen and can be easily turned off. This has been MIUI's dilemma for years.

Force-restarting the phone is always possible and it's not even bound to the OS, you can do that from anywhere. A thief doesn't need the power menu to shutdown the phone, he can force it to shutdown and then do whatever he wants using TWRP.
You gave up on max security the moment you unlocked your bootloader.
