Adroid update is possible or not?

I have a Redmi 4 prime or maybe redmi 4 (in setting it only shows redmi 4 as model number, and I never really understand what the exact model i got)
Rom MIUI 10.2.2.0 Global stable (MBEMIXM)
Adroid version 6.0.1 MMB29M
CPU Octa-core Max 2.02GHZ
Ram 3.00 GB

I would like to know if I can update my adroid version 6 to 7 or even 8 and where can I find a link / tutorial for that ?

I just installed MIUI Global 11.0.2 on my Redme 4x. Its Android 7.1.2, so maybe you can find that for yours as well.

Bit old this topic but maybe someone is still interested....
I have also the Redmi 4 prime and the last available MIUI/Android version was not enough for me.
So I installed Lineage OS on it and now I have Android 11 ...works fine though it's not MIUI.

Hello heyne, could you tell me where you found such rom? Or maybe you built it by your own?
I need t least android 10, as the capacitive buttons are fried. I'd use the navigation gestures, but on the latest ufficial rom from MIUI is not present yet.

So please, any help would be very appreciated!
