Safety first - Plug&Play with no compromise!
Do you trust those chinese adapters (missing approvals & EU conformity) for the mains supply?
I do not put them to the proof!

schuko_plug.jpg

So cut the original chinese plug and renew it by an approved (!) european SCHUKO plug (230V/50Hz/16A).

The setup procedure and the chinese signs

The setup of the IH* rice cooker 3l outside china can be tricky.
(*/ IH...Induction Heating)
Precondition: Wifi connection is established.
The setup procedure stops at:

Please enter the city where the rice cooker is located.
Its not possible to entry into rice cooker app.

I am located in europe. All my other mi smart home apps are working at a glance.

Workaround no.1:
I just set my rice cooker to city shanghai (input in chinese / pinyin input)
Signs for Shanghai:
上海

Workaround no.2 (prefered!):
I could find a chinese city (Xi´an) which has an altitude similar to my city in europe (around 400 m altitude).
Find with google maps and then translate the city name (Xi´an) with the "G" google inline translation to pinyin.

See screenshot - setting/input a chinese city name in chinese letters/pinyin via "G" google inline translator:

Confirm input <ok>
setup is successful

Note:
If using more than one device (phone, tablet etc) with the smart home app and rice cooker plugin -> each device needs city input.

Hopefully the cooked rice has now best quality results resp. the cooked rice is much more flavorful.

English Control Panel of IH Rice Cooker (Preliminary edition)

All the buttons and functions of the control panel are only needed if you use the rice cooker without the smart home app. Its more comfortable for me to use the smart home app because you can start the rice preparation from anywhere(!) even from a sofa.

Finish Notification

Within menu Settings you can activate an mp3 file eg. with your own personal recorded voice of the finish event for the rice preparation.
This can be made really cool. As well other settings are possible.

The smart home app views the status of the rice cooker - offline/standby/cooking.

I have using for years a simple rice cooker and switched now to the Xiaomi IH rice cooker. There is a difference between taste and flavor of the rice - a big difference!
I can recommend it to everyone likes cooking, likes eating fine dishes.

Hi!
I just bought this rice cooker v2. I cant connect mine phone to rice cooker. Have tried reset wifi on cooker like 100 times in 2 days of trying. Now Im really frustrating.
Anyone can help me how to connect wifi to the cooker?
Any settings I missed in mine router. Its ASUS RT-AC66U.
The only way I can connect to the cooker with mine phone is to use another phone using it as wifi hotspot. Then I can connect to the cooker. But if using only 1 phone and it cant connect to cooker. I cant using 2 phones every time want to connect to the cooker.

Anyone can help me with this problem, please?

You need to install the <mi smart home app> from Xiaomi to your mobile phone first.
Make Smart home app settings:
Locale: Mainland China
Language: English

Then use the <+> sign to add the device rice cooker.
It will guide you through the setup procedure.

I knoiw about that. Anyway, I accidently clicked on reset button at the back of the router and lost all settings. But, by luck doing that and I FINALLY managed connect to the cooker. Even after reset all the seetings by backup I made and it still connect to the cooker. After 2 days of frustating attempts and finally paired it with mine phone. :)

Thank you very much for this helpfull manual !
Everything´s fine now and it works like a charm.

i have a question how do you configure your personal setting? for exemple cook at max temp

Nice review but if i may ask isnt easier to just change the cable instead of the plug? the cable looks like the same cables often given by other devices also can be found to supply power to computer monitors and Power supplies

I also have the same issue. Is there any solution for this yet? In teh Screenshot of Gerry003 the language is English and the Rice Manager is included. Is there any solution for this?

Hello, I actually solved the Rice Manager issue, but it is a little tricky way.

Let's see the walktrhough steps:
- With Region: Mainland China / Lang: English settings there is no rice management.
- Setting to Region: Mainland China/ Lang: Default get one with rice cooking a rice type selection menu. I stayed with this Region/Lang settings as feasable solution. It is quite good and with Rice menu comes up: Select the rice species. But my rice bought in the local store is where? Go further!

18333-f4b50ad6b729b4824ffcf60ae1720244.jpg

- Setting to Region: Mainland China / Lang: the second one (I assume it is Chinese) and select the second menu point

18340-0a9a51f1a3abbc23f31e0375267f0010.jpg

- The camera scanning option is available. My scanned Thai Jasmin is uploaded to the Xiaomi automatically and has a picture as I have on my table here.

18341-bf65d99a6d3610e352cb528a67ec079d.jpg

- Don't forget, that the language is the last one in the settings to go back your Lang: Default and you have your scanned rice as shown above to select.

18342-4e0c8354f5916d06be8801b2b7a96dc1.jpg

- That is all, I hope You may figure out the missing minor points. Just before I forget, You can not delete custom rice from menu with Lang: Default but with Lang: Chinese setting.

Hi all, thanks for all the helpful info. I just purchased a 4L rice cooker and this post has been very helpful. Thought I'd share and Android app I found that does in app translation. It's a bit messy but allows non Chinese readers to tap into the Chinese resources which as mentioned is far more extensive than English. Not sure if there's an iPhone version...

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.pjf.apptranslator

Hope this helps

Hi all! I have just set up my 3L cooker, but when I start it, after a few seconds it gives Error code 4, which is the code for insufficient pressure.
Could it be because the location in china that I assigned in the app ia at different altitude than where I am using th cooker (Chicago), and therefore it expexts a different pressure, and gives error xode 04?

Hi all, I have XIAOMI Mijia YLG01CM Electric Rice Cooker Smart Home 5L, and I already have the app in china and english language, how can I see the recipes? and how to cook various type of rice? The pan I have is different from IH Rice Cooker, is it better? and more recent? Thanks so much for the help

Hello everyone it's been a while since I had this one solved but I believe since the firmware update I can't find the recipes again.

I tried the above suggestions and it seams there are no cookbook suggestions.

I would really appreciate some information here.

Thank you for reading this.

PS: Please note this screenshot is in Chinese language (2nd choice)

Who is still using this cooker?
I connected but can not see the type of rice when click "select rice species" and any recipe.
So i can not cooking by phone..

Hey,

I just had a totally different experience.
First of all, I ordered the Chinese version of the rice cooker.

When I wanted to setup the rice cooker in my normal (European) mi -App, everything worked and the app told me that the setup was successful.
But … I couldn’t find the rice cooker anywhere.

After many worries, I changed the location to china which was followed by a switch of the servers and … tadaaaa the rice cooker appeared in my app.
Cons:
Now all my other products are “stuck” in the “German server”.

Solution: for the few times I use the rice cooker, I will switch from Germany —> to china.

The big Pro is, that all products are kind of saved on the servers.
This makes it possible to easy switch the location.

My Workaround for a weird Problem.

If anybody knows a more smooth solution, please let me know.
