New Mi 8 (dipper) MIUI10 8.7.12 Voice Match not available

OK Google prompt doesn't work. The Voice Match options in Settings -> Google -> Search -> Voice -> Voice Match are disable with the message "This feature is currently unavailable for this language"

The language is set to US English. Tried switching to other languages like UK English and it made no difference.

From reading of the same issues on some other non-MIUI devices, it seems to be caused by Google (the app) not installed as system app properly?
