Hello guys,

I am trying to install the EU ROM on my 12S Ultra phone for the first time. When I run "windows_fastboot_first_install_with_data_format.bat" file in Fastboot mode, it says "waiting for device...".
I have already enabled USB debugging (both normal and security modes). I have installed the newest ADB drivers (or at least I think I have!). But windows still does not recognize my phone when in Fastboot mode (I have tried "fastboot devices" command in cmd).

Does anyone have an idea of what I can do to solve the issue?

Install Fastboot Driver than it works

You probably don't have the necessary drivers on your PC.
install Xiaomi drivers

I have already installed the latest version from this link: https://xiaomiui.net/how-to-install-adb-fastboot-drivers-on-pc-3108/

Did you install the Xiaomi drivers?
You can try:
change USB port / change USB cable / use USB 2.0 / use an USB Hub

The link for Xiaomi drivers includes a program called miflash unlock. When I run the program, it asks to unlock my device. Is that necessary?

No. I assume that you already have the bootloader unlocked.

Thanks. It seems like the fastboot connectivity is resolved. But when I ran the bat file, I got a lot of "Flashing is not allowed in Lock State" errors!

You can check if your device is unlocked
fastboot oem device-info
-> there is a line "Device unlocked = true or false"
--------------------------------------------------
If you dont see "Mi Unlock Status" in developer options
-> your device is also unlocked

Unlock your device (only once)
- you need to unlock bootloader
-> a small [howto] to unlock bootloader
It says false. Can I just use the miflash unlock tool to unlock my phone?

Remember:
If you are going from MIUI 13 (or later) Weekly ROM to MIUI 13 Stable ROM, you are doing a downgrade, so format data is mandatory!

Tip for Android 12 devices:
Because TWRP doesn't work with Android 12, the update needs to be flashed in Fastboot mode.
Download the ZIP package, unpack it on your PC and run one of the following scripts:
* update_rom (without formatting data), if you're moving from Android 11 xiaomi.eu ROM.
* first_install_with_data_format (with format data), if you're flashing xiaomi.eu ROM for the first time.
Dear @ingbrzy , please make the latest 13.0.9.0 global rom for Mi 11 lite 4G Courbet with FASTBOOT INSTALL as previous one, because the recovery version doesnt installs for me via TWRP...

Do I have to format (not wipe) Data in TWRP
You have to format (not wipe) data in TWRP
- if you install the xiaomi.eu rom for the first time
- if you change from weekly to stable (recommended)
- if you change from stable to weekly (recommended)
- you will loose your data -> make a backup
I want to update from old stable rom to latest stable rom, i have to unlock it?

if you are on xiaomi.eu rom your device should be unlocked. for custom rom your device must have unlocked bootloader

You can check if your device is unlocked (Bootloader)
fastboot oem device-info
-> there is a line "Device unlocked = true or false"
