Note
Dear Dev, if you want to include this mod into your rom, please give credit to all the people that made it possible by linking to this post, thanks!!

Credits
snq- for developing thr first 4 way reboot mod.
ihtfp69 for porting it to MIUI
aiccucs for bringing it to miui-dev and posting the tut.
tka4ev for adapting it to GB
Thanks to Andy Thomson's work there's an improved version of the mod!!
Droid and SGS users will have three options only (Normal - Hot Boot - Recovery)
SGS2 users will have Download instead of Bootloader
All other users will get the normal 4 options.

What this mod does...
Allows you to reboot in the following ways by long pressing the power button:
1. Normally
2. Hot Reboot (Restarts the OS)
3. Reboot directly to the bootloader (Fastboot)
4. Reboot directly to recovery

Installation:
Flash ZIP from recovery.

New
Using "siam" script for multi-device mounting /system in recovery, so basically there shouldn't be any more need to mount it manually before flashing. If you encounter any issue while flashing, please let me know your device model.

Update 1.11.25:
Removed 'Reboot' text and icon in order to make the code less dependent and probably will make a tool for self apply on the coming weeks.

Downloads:

Last Build 2.1.13 V2:
Normal:
Long pressing the power button will prompt the reboot window no matter where you are (homescreen, app, menus, etc)

Lockscreen only (LS_Only):
- Build that will work from lockscreen only, meaning, long pressing the power button in any situation other than lockscreen will pull down the toggles curtain. For this to work you have to turn off the "Disable on lockscreen" switch in Button Settings under System tab.

Do I just install this via recovery like I would with anything else (ie install from zip)?

**EDIT** Because there is not thank you button on this forum??? THANKS BLOODFLAME. Have not applied this mod in the past so wanted to be sure.

This isn't necessary for .22. Just hold down the power button is all you have to do.

This has more options than MIUI has by default. MIUI by itself only allows a full reboot, while this mod will also allow a hot boot (OS only), reboot to recovery, reboot to bootloader, and the standard full reboot. hence the name, 4-way reboot.

If you already have it, it was probably implemented into the rom mod you're using.

For some reason I can't get this to work. Flashed via recovery and wiped dalvik. Long pressing power still just brings the menu from the notification bar down. Only reboot and power are available. Any suggestions?

This suuucks. My power button used to bring up the notifications menu when held. After this it goes straight into the 4 way reboot menu.

Question #1: can I undo this mod?
Question #2: can this mod be changed so it only brings up the 4 way reboot menu *after* the notifications menu comes down and you hit 'reboot'?

Works perfectly with the 1.4.29 update.
I never recommend flashing previous weeks mod into new one. The file that is edited is a system one and although the mod could work it can bring to another side effects. Be patient and always wait for a proper release.

BTW, the new mod is up!!!

Thanks for the warning, but I figured a nandroid backup would be enough incase something went wrong.

Anyways thanks for the mod, hopefully this feature can get implemented into the stock rom.

Great, thanks for the 1.4.29 update.

Just a quick note, however. The title and post need to be updated to reflect the new version number. ;)

It IS a 4-way reboot!! Press and hold the power button, then press reboot, then the 4-way reboot menu is displayed. I wouldn't waste my time posting in here if I didn't know what I was talking about!!! However, this mod was not included in the latest .29 release

As I said before, this is NOT a stock tweak!!
Apparently the dev behind the rom you're using is adding this feature built-in to the rom. It is not the case for most of the roms.

I can't get this to work on my Desire HD. Flashed zip using clockwork, cleared Dalvik but long pressing power button still only brings up the toggle menu. When i press reboot it just reboots the phone. No 4 way menu. What am i doing wrong or does this not work on the Desire HD?

Please send me the /system/framework/android.policy.jar file from whithin your rom zip

Works like a charm here. First boot after flashing took quite some time, I even thought my system got screwed up and bootlooped but after it loaded everything's just fine :)

btw it still says "Last (1.4.22)" in OP right above the first link for .29 :p

Hi, wouldn't let me upload the android.policy.jar file in zip format here as the file size was slightly larger than the forum allows. I've uploaded it to megaupload - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3Q3WKH6S.

I have the HTC Desire HD (ACE), not the Desire, if that makes any difference.
