[ROM][Official][4.4.4] CyanogenMod 11.0 Nightlies for the Xiaomi MI2 (aries)

You bought it?
If I were you, I'd make sure it includes the LCD else attempt to cancel the order. It's really pricey, you can get a digitizer for much less on Ebay, and it's, as you've said, a risky business to install a digitizer. And yes the title clearly says it's just the digitizer.
so what do you think about this?
http://www.ebay.de/itm/LCD-Screen-T...zer_Ersatzteile_Werkzeuge&hash=item35da82d1cb

he says he ordered it from china but he couldn't use it because he has a mi2a.
allegedly it was tested by the manufacturer.

Hard to say, when I buy from Ebay I always go for high rated sellers.
This is the cheapest I've found:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Black-...ment_Parts_Tools&hash=item35d990ca9a#shpCntId
But it might me a little too cheap.
Though the seller got a very positive feedback.
Also this:

Price seems a little more reassuring. You're from Germany right? Because I've picked ones that ship there lol
And this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Black-O...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4178425ba2

It's risky stuff, too bad manufacturers don't sell replacement parts to customers.

Edit: Oh, lol. The last 2 are from the same seller, just have slightly different names, the second one sold more units.

  • What you get:
    1 x Touch Screen with digitizer+LCD Display Assembly + Frame for Xiaomi 2 M2 MI2 MI2s M2s Phone
We will test it before we send it out.
That's at least a little reassuring.

As much as I can tell, it's not original at all. Mi2S has graphite thermal film on the back of screen, definitely not just metal.

Here's a video made by local replacement screen + digitizer seller:
http://v.pps.tv/play_3D4J9W.html

I'm not saying he is selling the original parts, but it definitely looks pretty fine.

He is selling the screen + digitizer for 230.00 RMB (about 27.8 EUR)
And there is a lot bad made fake ones selling at a price of 120 RMB (about 14.5 EUR)

Again, even in China, Xiaomi is not officially selling any original replacement parts.

So the first one I've found (cheapest) does have a graphite film doesn't it? That black thing.

But anyways, we know there's no original for sell. And having a graphite film is no indication.

I don't think so...in fact I don't even think it's graphite film.

It should be a whole square part, it's the border around it created the irregular shape.
Check m1cha's link, that one didn't include the border.

nope, I was wrong. it is indeed irregular shaped, but definitely not like that kind of irregular.

And yes, with or without it the screen should work, just the heat from motherboard won't be able to spread to front, it may cause some problem, or may not. I've heard some local users screen became less heated after changing a replacement screen, I guess those are the ones without the graphite film.

Yeah but for all we know, even if there's a reseller selling an original, it might not have that film, because it nay be part of the assembly process.
And anyways, even resellers like fulcrumall which probably have, if not an original, than a high quality piece, doesn't have such film.

Edit: and you could always replace the film from the damaged screen.

True, but just a warning: I see bad made replacement screens (or call them "fake"? well they do work) without the film on local market, a lot of them, and selling only at the half price of good looking ones (as I mentioned in the above post).

They're known to be (reported by users) not so responsible (on touch screen) and have noticeable grids on screen in normal light environment.

A replacement screen with good response comes with the film, and still can't tell if it's original, but from the users' report, they work pretty good.

Oh wait, you're right, fulcrumall do sell one with a film.

I've bought my Xiaomi from them, they're quite trustworthy from my experience, and they have good communication even if their English is lacking. Well some pictures have a film and some don't.
This guy also sells one with a film :http://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Black-...ment_Parts_Tools&hash=item35d990ca9a#shpCntId
Quite cheap too, a little too cheap, and it doesn't look as good, somehow.

The $41.90 one doesn't look right. In fact it looks pretty much like the bad made ones I've been talking about, a key feature of them is the screen is noticeable blue in normal light, while the original screen looks black even in strong light.

The $116.00 one looks good to me, as you said if it doesn't come with the film just grab the one from broken screen.

Yeah.. Well it's probably best to buy a legit one for like 100$. Shamefully, that's like half a new mi2s.. lol

@RadarNyan @UserC I'm struggling between these two:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lcd-Display...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item2a3db5ab74
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Black-O...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4178425ba2

I'm mainly looking at the stamps on the lcd an dthe form of the cables etc.
most look like the first one. but the 2nd one is a very high rated seller.

Does anybody have a picture of a original one? Otherwise I'd start disassembling mine to check it myself.
Worth to note that the first one, while costing more, doesn't include the frame. And you could check out youtube, there are a bunch of disassembly videos of the mi2/s.

what is the frame exactly and do I need to replace it too?
You'll have to disassemble your older frame if you don't get a new frame, with a frame it's just screws and connectors. I don't really know how it works with replacing the frame.

ok thx. I'll search for a good quality video then otherwise I'll disassemble my mi2.
I need todo it anyway but I tend to loose screws if I don't use them for some weeks :D

I only tried to buy small things on aliexpress like cases and screen protectors from dealers with high amount of orders and good feedback and had good experience also with absolutely no issues and with good communication by the dealer.

I did it in free shipping mode. Waited one month but worth the wait. Prices are very attractive.

A little bit OT. So, dropped my phone on the road, found it later about 5 hours later. Result, phone screen is completely destroyed, nothing works except notification light. I dissasembled it, and the internals looked fine, at least visually, except camera was a bit flimsy, but I guess it is supposed to be like that. Anyways, the screen replacement would cost ~100 bucks, but now I wonder if any other part of the phone is damaged like speaker phone etc. and if, I would need to replace motherboard aswell, and if that is the case I don't think it would be worth doing anything. So the question is, is there any way to check if the components are fine, maybe via adb or something else? I currently use this Rom, Thanks.

To be clear, digitizer isn't visible. Sorry for low quality image.

first: DUUDE :D
second: just pull the battery, hold the volume-down key and connect the usb cable to your pc.
if the board works you should see a fastboot device.

All I know is that it's working because I still can hear incoming calls or notifications, but I just don't know how much of it is working. My main concern is that the screen replacement would cost aproximetly the same as brand new red rice 1S and if something else doesn't work, it's basically money thrown to water..
