Unlocked device by official method.. thats all... we dont care about cracked BL users..
The Redmi 3 Note Pro was already BL unlocked and with a xiaomi.eu firmware 8.0.x (android 5.0) and TWRP installed. The usual method. However, after installing 8.1 with Android 6.0 the phone got screwed. That's why I was asking if there is something else I should take care of (like what was done with Mi3/Mi4 and partition merging...).

When a Xiaomi phone comes from the dealer with the BL unlocked, you can be sure it's a crack-unlock.

What you need to do is install a Chinese stock DEV ROM, then do the official BL unlock.

After that you're free to install any Xiaomi.eu ROM you want.

I think I'll wait for Mi5 Android 7.0 until GPS is fixed. Do I need SuperSU to upgrade of just the new TWRP?

SuperSU is not needed just proper TWRP.
Anyway I have no issue with GPS. I use it with Google maps and it works properly for me...

I can confirm that the GPS don't lock fast in nougat. I am thinking over switching to global stable after 3 years using xiaomi.eu roms.
I'm also having serious problems using Google Maps (seems he doesn't find where I am without saying anything like "Looking for GPS signal"). With a test app, I succedeed in the GPS fix just once outside in an open space after some time with like 20 satellites in use. Never had a problem with the GPS fix also inside building with Android 6.
It's very annoing, I hope it'll be fixed soon or I'll be forced to try some other ROM :(
Thanks, bye

No, not always... I read some (rare) cases (Mi Mix and Redmi 4a) where the phone were really unlocked (not with hacked bootloader but with the token in the DevInfo partition).

Exactly :) In that cases the phone still unlocked

I have absolute no problem with GPS. I get a fix of 10 within 10sec and after 20sec there are 20 Sattelites available.
Navigated with HERE Maps through Prague (28th - 30th) without any lags or misses!
Mi5 3/32 latest multi 6.12.29 latest SU.

Which Rom is that? The xiaomi global one? I have the lastest weekly xiaomi.eu: 6.12.29 with latest SuperSU v2.79. Mi5 3/64 tested in Europe.

On my Mi4 Gmail is not syncing.
After some testing I found that: locking the app, giving it permission to autostart and setting battery options to leave the app alone - helps a bit... I get a mail here and there.
