I'm still having problems with otg in this ROM with my Latte, Can anybody help me or is a problem with the xiaomi.eu ROM?
Thank you in advance

@graw2 this option initially popped up when I fiirst entered TWRP, after flashing it as a recovery. It gave me the option to have the system partition R/W or R/O. Which is the correct option? What should be selected there?

Just for installing ROM updates it is enough to keep it in R/O mode. Anyway I always use it in R/W mode for extended options, for example, cannot be restore previous backup in case of R/O mode.

Hi there,
Sorry because probably it's already been asked so many times.
My Redmi Note 2 currently running on xiaomi.eu's stable rom. Plan to change it to weekly ROM. So, on TWRP do I must wipe everything (data, storage, system, cache) or enough only to select dalvik and cache?
'
Thank you...

greetings.

It doesn't matter what is the default value, you can change r/w mode any time in TWRP under mount option. Anyway if you you keep system read only enabled then you cannot make any restore from previous backup. So imo there is no any sense to keep this option enabled...but up to you...

Hi graw2,

Yes, default value matters. There are some Bank apps like the one I must use (that's why I need stable version, that's why I need unroot and untouched system) that just refused to run if they see system partition was just once mounted r/w! You reboot once in TWRP and you're screwed...

This statement in TWRP official site makes it clear. In this case they talk about OTA "With this style of OTA update, the update script checks to see if the system partition has ever been mounted read/write" but it's not so difficult to apply this to an app behaviour... https://twrp.me/site/update/2015/06/22/twrp-2.8.7.0-released.html

That's why 99% of TWRP around gives you the welcome screen to let you choose, I guess. If it was no useful I think that option would be excluded from TWRP but you know it's not so.
And sure you need r/w system to restore a backup, but when you restore it, it will be restored as an untouched and unmodified system so no issue.
In the end, personally I think that this option it's ok for people with rooted device and less ok for users with stable and unrooted devices. But as I said in the TS forum, user should always have the chance to choose, it should be up to me like you said. You'll never be wrong if you apply this rule :)

@nicoff @graw2 what is the default in TWRP? How do you have TWRP to mount the system partition? R/W or R/O?

I am asking, because I'm having a bug trying to flash updates from stable firmwares (see: http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-3-31.30858/page-21#post-284457 ), as @ingbrzy suggested.

Glad you could install that recovery at the end @cosmik ! :) How you did it? Maybe this could be useful for other people in your situation...
Well, "Read only" is what you will need in most of the cases. R/W just if you need to root or need to restore a backup.

Maybe in your case it would be useful "Allow Modifications"(?), because " TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent TWRP from being replaced by stock recovery". That's what TWRP Team says. In my case this setting gives me problems with my bank app that see my device as a rooted device as I was saying in my previous comment below. @ingbrzy @graw2

What type of backups need a R/W file system in TWRP? For example, do the ones taken with the MIUI local backup function need it? Or are you talking about restoring backups taken with TWRP itself?

Sorry, but I was not succesful. My son has a Mi3 and it was about his new TWRP-based firmware I was asking about. Plus a friend whose RN3 Pro I unlocked had an issue when trying to flash a newer xiaomi.eu stable firmware, when a xiaomi.eu firmware + TWRP was already installed...

Thanks, perhaps that will solve my issue with the RN3 Pro and the Mi3.

For the past couple of versions of this ROM (for Mi Note Virgo) I'm unable to export photos from VSCOcam, take a photo in MSQRD and getting a "Unable to save image" message after posting something to Instagram (my Instagram photo doesn't get saved to Gallery). Any idea what could be causing this? Sounds like a storage permission problem to me, but I've allowed everything for VSCO/Instagram/MSQRD and the problem is still present. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi

There's any reason for the suspension of Mi4i weekly update? Global update is suspended since January and now China update too...

In security options - > permission -> there is no storage access; where can I find the option you're talking about?
I am trying to download the PDF on the bottom of this page http://www.strumentimusicali.net/product_info.php/products_id/5276/YAMAHA-Clavinova-CLP220.html

It worked fine for me.

Security -> Permissions -> Permissions -> Chrome

Hello and sorry,
contrary to all previous weekly now I'm having a problem with the battery that drain faster than usual.
is the first time that with GSAM monitor battery find this item "System (adsprpcs)" in first place
Does anyone have the same problem?
I have no media files on the phone and no microSD.
Already tried to wipe cache and dalvik and disable NU Player in developer options. Nothing still there...
Just to know if I'm the only one with this problem.

Sorry guys, in the past I installed TWRP on my MI4 but I don't remember what I did.

Now I have a new MI4 of a friend and I'd like to install TWRP. I'd prefer not to use flashify, because I don't have access to my pc; is it possible to flash the TWRP in one of the followings method?
  • Flash through updater;
  • Rename TWRP recovery file as "update.zip" and install it through MI recovery?
Thanks very much.
