MIUI-DEV WEATHER Help & Support

Could someone provide some advice on how to uninstall this app/widget ? I got it to work with Root Explorer but found that my city is not yet supported so I decided to remove the app. To my surprise, simply deleting the apk file is not enough. MIUI Weather can still be found in my app list, and sometimes shows up in Adv. Task Manager.

I have a SGS(i9000) with Darky's Rom 9.3 Extreme Edition. Both the APK and db files are deleted. Advice on how to get rid of this app would be very helpful as it is using up my resources.

Thanks

Not sure if this will help, but did you try to uninstall using the built in uninstaller? Go to Settings->Manage Applications->All Applications and then find MIUI Weather and select it, then select uninstall. This should work and remove the program (I have not tried it yes because I am still using the program) as it has worked for me in the past on other stubborn sideloaded programs.

Hope this helps!!!

Yes I did try that. MIUI Weather can be found in the applications list, but the only available option for it is "Force Close", where as "Uninstall" is grayed out. I also tried using 3rd party applications with no success.

Edit: I also tried rebooting my phone several times. Still no change. I tried using a start-up manager to block the application from booting, but still this stubborn app keeps showing up as a resource in the task manager :)

It's because the app is in the app system folder, so you can't uninstall it... You've to delete it from root explorer

If you can't get the above method to work, try re-installing MIUI using your previous method and then go to the Manage Applications and the Uninstall button should not be greyed out (it isn't on my device, but I side loaded the program and it may behave differently depending on how it was installed).

This is just a Fancy Widget skin. It has nothing to do with MIUI Weather. It just copies the look of the clock widget. Plus, it doesn't have the 1x4 widget, just the 2x4.

Thanks, my gf found it after I had told her about MIUI weather lol, it's definitely not as nice. Now she wants MIUI on her EVO too.

The ODP file was created with OpenOffice. If you have Microsoft Office and it is up to date it should be able to open the file as well.

is there any animation cause i haven't notice it

You can view all the animations by pressing menu -> About.

It really depends on the weather you're having. If the weather is clear, overcast, or foggy, or something, there really isn't anything to animate.

You should see animations for rain, and when the weather involves clouds, you can see them build around the sun when you open the app.

This applies worked perfectly for me for almost a week and now it force closes no matter what I do. I've reinstalled the application many times, fixed the permissions on both the application and the db, and it still won't work. It was doing this earlier today and deleting the xm weather db was the only thing that got it to work, but that's not working this time.

@thefunkbot,

I also have experienced the same issue. There are times where the weather app works perfectly and then there are times when it force closes on me.

When it does FC, it sometimes does it right after launching it, other times it happens when I try to scroll over to a different city I have added (within the same US state of course).

Other times that it happens is when my battery level is low. When fully charged it seems to work like normal.

The snow and light snow animations and backgrounds on the click widget seem to be opposites. Light snow looks a lot snowier than snow.

I was showing my daughter the backgrounds last night. When we got to blizzard, she was silent and then said, "that's less snow than the light snow one".

Oh well, we never get blizzards or sandstorms (which also looked pretty mild).

Have you also noticed that "Rain & Thunderstorms" has lightning, but "Thunderstorms" doesn't? I just thought it was weird.

I just experienced something similar to this, but I figured out how to get the app working again. Here is what I did. I had initially stopped MIUI Weather accidentaly with a task manager. After that MIUI Weather would just force close whenever I tried to run it.

I did not uninstall MIUI Weather, instead, what I did to solve my problem was the following steps:

1) Go to your Home Screen and then go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications.
2) scroll down in the Third-party listing to find MIUI Weather and select it to bring up the Application Info screen
3) Under the Storage section, press the Clear data button

Once I did this, I was able to then re-select my city and everything has been working fine. I also had to get rid of the Widget on my home page and then add it back again in order for the widget to display correctly.

Help Please, who can i find the weather id's from Germany to add into miui_city.db ?

Recommendation for the US .apks, and corresponding .db files for the beta2 release: compile the cities based on US regions, rather than by states' names. (the midwest, northeast, south, northwest, and southwest) For those traveling in their respective regions, I'm sure this would be a helpful feature, and it still divides the databases into 5 separate .apks and .dbs. Just a thought, hope it helps.

I've found that wiping dalvik cache stops the force closing for me.

Hi guys,

I have a little problem, I had the miui weather installed and working correctly, but then I had a issue with my phone and had to re-push it... and now it doesnt seem to be working anymore. I have a theory that it might help to uninstall the weather app, but I cant find the adb commands to perform the uninstall of the weather app

Phone N1
Miui 1.3.18

Found out that the adb command:
adb shell rm /system/app/MIUIDev_Weather_EU_Beta.apk

Did what i needed it to do - and after a reinstall its up and running again

Thanks for a sweet app
