Update 7.8.31 ota for 7.9.7?

I tried to install 7.9.7 on Mi5s using TWRP and it says "failed to mount /system (invalid argument)"
The install continues but gets stuck after:
Installing MIUI update...
package_extract-file took 00s

Now I am unable to mount /system and the phone will not boot, as it says there is no operating system installed

Any ideas?

Problem solved. The .zip file must have been corrupt. I downloaded it from a different server and I'm up and running again.

I have the v7.8.31 in my Mi5s, the updater show me that i can download the v7.9.8. I download and when i try to install i have and error and i cant do that. With the others everything went fine. Anyone knows the problem?

Which error? Blue, red or the yellow one?

(Now without joking: More details are needed to be able help you )

Edit: Maybe downloaded file is corrupt? Tried to re-download?

I have Redmi 3 and been waiting for the update. I installed it yesterday and there are several problems:

1. The launcher space is narrower - the icons are smaller and there is a big gap from the edges.
2. Toggles - I have them set separated from the notifications. In the past you could set the grid to 4*3 which was great and not too small, now there's only the default of 5*3 which is too small and crowded.
3. Buttons - short press on menu item used to do exactly what it meant - to bring the menu. Now it brings the recent menu and it's totally counter intuitive. Why do I need to long press in order to bring the menu?

Since 7.9.7/7.9.8, I have an issue with my MI5s. After unlocking phone with fingerprint sensor (which works), the Google Assistant opens every time. It's set to open by pressing home key for longer time. So, Fingerprint sensor is the home key.. But before this version, it didn't open after unlocking the phone. Somebody else has this issue?

What about bug with sending something from SD Card by Bluetooth? This error was on last MIUI 7.6.8 for that phone and still egsist on 7.9.7.

I try China Dev and there problem is.
This work only on Global Stable with MIUI 8

Redmi 4 Pro, I can send file from phone memory but error is only when I'm sending it from SD Card. I try three diferent card.

Do you think it's a theme issue? The same mistake I had on MIUI 8.
As I uploaded China Dev and did not change the theme and left the default, the error was the same

Yes, I try use clean China Dev Miui ( 7.9.7) without any my change, and error exsist. This same as on Xiaomi.eu.

As I wrote earlier, this same issue was on last MIUI 8 - 7.6.8, I reported it on miuipolska and wait for update to MIUI 9 but this look like bug in ROM.

I try use another sd card, new one but nothing change, I think maybe this issue is because I got paired amazfit but when I upair it bug still is.

It's work only on Global Stable MIUI 8 - 8.2.4

There is I bug in restrict background data in 7.9.7. (and also in China Dev and global Dev)
You can switch it on or off but phone won't remember what you set.
@ingbrzy btw could you please tell me name off auto task process (eg. com.miui.....) Is it a standalone app like cleaner powerkeeper etc?
