I'm on xiaomi.eu beta rom. Ok google doesn't work. Any solution? There are many thread online but I don't know if it is only a xiaomi.eu problem or miui in general or this phone. I also have a redmi 3pro and 4x, both working fine

(both global stable)

set English language in Google voice settings..

Settings - Google - Search, Assistant and Voice - Voice - Languages - English (US)

@ingbrzy It's known bug for Mi 8. They have already fixed it for Poco but not for Mi 8. Can you do something with it?

What mi8 do you have?

Okay, that's sad, what could be the difference? Both Rom are based on China dev rom, weird, good luck then!
Because in mi8 basic didn't work, i try with global oreo,xiaomi.eu oreo and now xiaomi.eu pie but never work :/

i met a Pixel3crew guy, he said that "ok google" was forbiden in China because of other alternatives, so on my mi8, which i buy in China it doesn't work !
I don't know if it's thrue, but the fact is there's no solution for the moment !

My xiaomi is Global version not china so it's not the problem :/

I bought mine in China too, it came original unopened ;)

Mine is international version (global), i've a regular italian warranty... So my Dipper is a true global one, but "ok google" is locked.
Is a problem related to MI 8 DIPPER only.
Other version (EE, or PRO etc) are not affected.
Also Poco F1 had the same problem, but xiaomi fixed the problem on 8.11.8 rom.
If someone understand what xiaomi has done to fix poco f1, maybe we can fix also the Mi8 "dipper".
Or if we can find a difference with MI8 EE version....

@ingbrzy on my MI Mix 2s "ok google" works, on Dipper (same settings) no.
I've installed for a test the AOSIP rom (from XDA) on my MI8 and ok google works, so is a xiaomi rom's problem for sure :(

Nice finding, maybe a logcat might help to narrow down the issue?

Feel free to attach it (consist of ok Google activation attempts) I would analyze it for you.

Can you try:

1. Toggle 'Use Screen Context' off (if it was on)
2. Toggle 'Google Assistant' off
3. Go back to the previous page
4. Re-enter the phone's voice settings
5. Toggle 'Use Screen Context' on again
6. Toggle 'Google Assistant' on again
7. Am now able to turn on 'Access with Voice Match'

More sophisticated:

1. Toggle 'Use Screen Context' off (since it was on already)
2. Toggle 'Google Assistant' off
3. Go back to the previous page

* Exit program
* turn phone off
* turn phone back on
* Toggle 'Google Assistant' on
then ...

5. Toggle 'Use Screen Context' on again
6. Toggle 'Google Assistant' on again
7. Am now able to turn on 'Access with Voice Match'

Found on reddit.

Also, toggle microphone permissions off and on again.

Try latest beta:

Good luck!

Regards.

tried both methods... with no change... "voice match" can't be enabled at all (so i think that there are not logcat to analize, because i can't enable voice match).

Btw adding some apks to Xiaomi rom's there is some changes...
https://en.miui.com/thread-4163009-1-1.html
argraur the mantainer of AOSIP and Pixel3Rom for MI 8 Dipper, has found that adding these apk, voice match can be enabled, but it dos't trigger anything.
we had a discussion also there:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/help/google-voice-match-global-stable-9-6-3-0-t3836988

Btw atm on Dipper, something is broken/missing to enable "Ok Google", there is also a thread on google support page for this bug on MI 8:
