I wrote this at the official MIUI site:

7. Does MIUI ROM support APP2SD and APP2EXT?
MIUI ROM supports APP2EXT. If you partition the SD card into EXT3, MIUI will automatically open APP2SD.

Maybe it helps?

So the only way to install apps on the SD card is to partition it to EXT3?

Another question has anyone figured out how to restore the desktop layout from the GB version?

so has anyone figured out how to install apps to the SD card yet ??

MIUI ROM 2.3.30 ROMS [ICS] & [GB]

Don't know about for the ICS roms, but for Gingerbread...............

Miui has built in A2SD+, which is essentially Dark Tremor's A2SD. To use it, make an ext partition on your sd card. I typically use 1 GB, but it supports 2GB and perhaps larger. A2SD+ seems to prefer ext3 partitions. It is really a crapshoot if A2SD+ will auto work, more often than not I have to use terminal to get it working. (see below).

You can make the partition from your computer using gparted or using Rom Manager. Make sure you back up your sd card contents to computer when you make the ext3 partition because it will reformat the card. You want 1GB ext3, and 0 swap, and the rest FAT.

Once you have the ext3 partition, next time you flash miui, log in to market - errr google play and download terminal emulator. Make sure you go into the superuser app and allow root access. Then open terminal emulator and at the $ prompt, type in "su". Miui may prompt you to allow it, let it have root access. You will now get a # prompt meaning you have root access. Then type "a2sd install". It will start changing permissions and moving apps. It will reboot. Once it reboots, you can also move the dalvik cache over which will free up even more space. To do that, open terminal emulator again and type "su" and then at # type "a2sd cachesd" . It will again scroll a lot of stuff and reboot.

What you have done with all this is symlink the phone's internal memory to the ext3 partition and miui will automagically move the apps to the ext3 partition on the sd card as you install apps.

Hope that helps.

I don't know this already reported or not, but I still got error "Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card" when installing some app to sdcard. from logcat:

Code:
4624 04-01 11:34:01.835: E/Vold(1826): Error creating device mapping (Device or resource busy)
4625 04-01 11:34:01.835: E/Vold(1826): ASEC device mapping failed (Device or resource busy)
4626 04-01 11:34:01.850: E/PackageHelper(12200): Failed to create secure container smdl2tmp1
4627 04-01 11:34:01.850: E/DefContainer(12200): Failed to create container smdl2tmp1

I also see many things like:
Code:
4704 04-01 11:34:30.720: E/DataRouter(1832): DrReadUsbStatus returns false USB is offline
4705 04-01 11:34:30.720: E/DataRouter(1832): DrReadUsbStatus returns false USB is offline

I've tried the solution from http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...on-usb-storage-or-sd-card-problem-on-android/ but no luck.

hope this will be fixed in the next release.

Thank you in advance. keep up the good work. :)

have you tried going into downloads, then settings, then turning off the limit?

btw, ive tried the latest rom, all seems to work okay but i noticed that when im plugged in, my phone (gs2) gets very hot, cpu spy tells me that my cpu runs at maximum when charging.. i did full wipe twice, same problem, other than this problem, the rom looks great!

Will there be any issue with existing information/data if I use mi-recovery to update my Xiaomi Mi-One?

hi.I dont know if i should ask this question here or not,but I want to know what is the different between ics & GB versions?

Dear Mark,

Am sure that you have already taken care of following points in this version.........

1. Setting --> Security -->>Privacy Protection -->> Protect Apps mode (gives FC when selecting any app)
2. Setting --> About Phone -->> Status (gives FC when selecting this option)
3. Flip to Silent option is missing.
4. Fine tuning is needed for Theme

The FC which clicking Protect apps is common when ur restoring apps via Titanium backup .

What i need to do is .

1) do a wipe and install update
2) do not restore any apps . go to Settings > Security > Privacy Protect apps > and enable it after which select any app .

once ur able to select any app then go to titanium backup and restore all ur apps . and then try enable app protection on the apps u want . this is the only way it will work . i have tested and tried this .

hi.I dont know if i should ask this question here or not,but I want to know what is the different between ics & GB versions?
I.C.S Has a more defined and modern structure, more smooth in operating various system components, a lot of the bugs that ate battery, caused heat and left apps running for long periods of time for no reason, is sorted out in I.C.S. Gingerbread is older operating system, is fully functional and has less security than I.C.S, hence it is easier for a hacker to get info on your phone and steal your bank account details etc. While Gingerbread has been worked on and improved, it has reached its improvement zenith and the issues found with the rom are inherent due to its structure and form and therefore the new I.C.S has been developed to correct the mistakes of the past. While Gingerbread is like an old poodle, I.C.S is like a sleek Jaguar. Hope that helps.

Update:

Last night no problems with charging. No heated battery, or at last overheating. He did just what he has to do!
Just that you know it.
