Small contact images in miui

Hi there

I'm having a problem getting bigger contact images to sync via google or facebook.

Only a small square 'fit-in-box' thumbnail is shown (while dialing and otherwise) when a contact image is synced from either google or facebook. This doesn't happen if I assign an image on the phone itself; The bigger image is captured and shown in fullscreen when calling, and it also syncs back to the gmail contact.

I'm guessing gmail contacts presently only supports small size images, but google+ and facebook support bigger images, so why is the same small thumb shown for contacts G+ and facebook accounts?

Facebook sync is achieved via HaxSync and it works perfectly on my Nexus 7 with the stock rom. G+ and facebook contact image aren't pixelated at all. Created a support ticket with HaxSync dev here - http://haxsync.com/issues/225, but he suspects something is wrong in the rom.

Does the contact application in MIUI always shows small thumbnails irrespective of where the image is synced from? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When synced from facebook :

When synced from google :

When assigned on the phone (Also syncs back to google) :

When synced from facebook on N7 :

Device: Galaxy SII GT-I9100
ROM: MIUI v2.8.31

TIA

I'm not trying to assign new pictures to contacts, I want contact and images to sync from google and facebook.

With google I can understand that it only supports low res.images but facebook sync does support bigger images, so why is miui still showing small crapped boxy pictures..

I have the same problem : all my contact picture will be small when call in - out ( Even the picture is high res.image)
But it will be full screen displayed if I re-add the new contact picture (even the picture is low res.image)

Small? In MIUI you get full size pictures in contacts. Just sync them with Xiaomi account. You have small size because of Google sync.

I'm using HaxSync to pull in high res images for my contacts from Facebook. This worked 100% on my Galaxy II stock ROM, and also on CM9, but in MIUI it is pulling in small images. So sorry, Xiaomi Sync is not a solution.

For me it is. I don't sync contacts with Facebook but set them individualy and then Xiaomi sync works. Also an app called Assign Contact works good as it stores images to Google Picasa.

Yes, the point is each of us will have a slightly different situation. But we do not want to be forced to use a specific provider for syncing our images, especially if it already works on other ROMs. It needs to be fixed instead of work-arounds being thrown down our throats.

But what to fix? Google stock sync is not working for hi res images since ages - so it's up to Google. Xiaomi sync? Works if you set hi res images from gallery. Facebook sync? Won't happen on MIUI without mods.

Why it's MIUI fault not HaxSync app? MIUI have its own framework and highly modded contacts app, maybe HaxSync don't support newest MIUIv4. As I remember this app worked for MIUI v4 few months ago because I was testing it. I don't know why is not working now.

Well, it works on other non-stock ROMs, so it is an assumption that the fault is with MIUI. But I will query it with the HaxSync developer anyway and get back to this thread with a more detailed description.

Haha, sorry, I forgot that this thread was started after feedback from the HaxSync developer. Read the original post in this thread. According to the developer, the fault is with MIUI.

That's right. Im using 3.4.5 and with the Hi-res images in my contacts don't sync correctly in MIUI but in AOSP no problem is full size pictures in Mi-2. How to solve this besides using Xiaomi sync if Google did the job fixing the bug?

If you still have this problem, I am saved him, so I went to the computer and Google mail where I manually changed the image immediately were also exchanged on the phone, they were big. I have MI2S.
