Force Touch Mi5s 3gb/64gb

The only way I know to activate 3d touch (Force touch) is:

Step 1: Install Nova Launcher
Step 2: Long press on empty space of home screen -> Widgets -> Nova Launcher Activities Shortcut
Step 3: Scroll down -> Settings -> 3D Touch
Step 4: Go to home screen where you put the icon, press it and enable it.

Done.

By the way, it doesn't work on mi launcher probably because xiaomi doesn't want 3/64 users use it BUT, MAYBE, Eu devs can enable it.

Press like if I've helped you.

I think xiaomi.eu is tied directly to the official xiaomi, so I do not think the xiami.eu, will never activated the force touch.

I noticed, that at the edge of the screen you must press much harder for more pressure(Debugging tools, pointer tool) than at the center of the touchscreen

Maybe because of this

Are you a wizard or rocket scientist or something like that?
Explain that to me scientifically :p
I said that, because the mi5s screen might not be optimized for 3d touch or is it the same with "real" 3d touch devices? That is practically for interactions at the edge not good.

Just think of trying to bend a sprig of a tree, you need a lot of force if you wanna break it to the ends.. on the other hand it's easier to do it right in the middle.
This could confirm that 3d touch is an hw feature and not a software instead.

Well, i think I understand how this technique works. There is a sensor, I think vertical under the display, which measures pressure in Newton with very little values. The location of the pressing point is located by the usual digitizer.
=> That means, 3d touch does not work with multi touch.
Edit: I've tested it, the center of the screen is the most sensitive point, the sensor must be there.
All in all, for making 3D touch work for the whole screen, it needs either more sensors OR the minimum value must be that low for a "bigger" pressure than just laying the finger onto the screen for recognizing a "hard" 3d touch.

Don't they have the same displays? I think they just disabled some things instead of building an extra display. maybe we also got 4gb ram with 1gb disabled^^

If I had the skills for reverse engineering, I'd try to unlock it. :D
Or do you think it is disabled in hardware?

Can anyone with a 4/128 version confirm if the center of the screen is more sensitive too?

ok the sensor is visible in test settings and same behavior on 3/64 and 4/128. so let‘s find the software switch.

They have exactly the same display. The sensor is probably like a little scales, the more you are in the middle of it more your measurement is accurate. The frame/bezels works like constraints, more and less like a slatted :D
You can activate it following #26 post.

If we can enable it via xiaomi settings, there could miss a file or just edit something compared with the 4gb version...

ok, but amen. I hope in Nougat Release as soon ass possibile. Force Touch is nothing more than a second feature.

Additional you can try out the app "Squid" (taking notes, editing pdfs) and activate "pressure" when using the pencil tool:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steadfastinnovation.android.projectpapyrus

It's a bit sad that the pressure recognition differs so much from the middle of the screen to the borders...

They could integrate much more sensors, or calculate it with the touch position and distance to the center of the screen where the sensor is located. so if the pressure in the center is 0,05 Newton and 500 pixel from the center the pressure is 0,05 Newton but only 0,025 is recognized, they could double the pressure on the basis of the location. (I didn't include the possible physical reality that pressure force may decrease in an exponential meaning or something like that.)
